Publicly inciting hatred is a crime in Canada. Unless you are sieg heiling a group of Jews while threatening them with the “Final Solution” during a violent anti-Israel protest. Because apparently this is ok.

@jasontoney_ The arbiters of what constitutes "hate" gave a Nazi a standing ovation in the House of Commons. They give land acknowledgements whilst supplying arms to a state annexing land in Lebanon. And our top cops dropped to a knee to mourn a felon's overdose death.

The Canadian Anti-Hate Network (CAHN) is running online ads to gather email addresses. Different versions of the ad target workers and the labour movement, parents, and educators, under the headings “Algorithms Are Teaching Hate” and “Hate Turns into Physical Harm.” This comes at the end of CAHN’s most recent federal funding period, with no additional public funding announced. In a recent interview with Rachel Gilmore, CAHN executive director Evan Balgord says the organization has “a lot of runway.” CAHN has received nearly $1 million in federal grants alone since 2020.
