Mormons are amazingly dishonest about their faith.
They say that the papyri Joseph Smith translated was destroyed in the Chicago Fire, when in fact a large portion of it was recovered undamaged.
Enough of it was recovered, in fact, for us to determine two very specific things about it:
1) It was an ancient copy of an egyptian scroll we have other copies of.
2) We know that it was a funeral scroll, and that Smith's translation was bogus - such to the point that even the LDS church now says that Smith didn't literally translate the document, but offered a "spiritual translation."

@antineocon911 @dantypo Oh I can. People who are in prison for crimes like rape and murder. They got nothing but time. Can they do the work? I mean depends on the job, but physically speaking, more than likely. Are they worth paying a minimum? No because prison isn’t supposed to be a career opportunity

$7.25 an hour is about $14,000 a year. No one can survive on that. People can barely survive on double that. We raised the minimum wage in Illinois. It's long overdue everywhere else.

@RiouBakura @dantypo I think we should adjust the minimum wage for inflation every so many years. We're in the longest stretch without an increase in the min wage ever (17 years). This guy says it's for gas money. Gas prices have doubled. Used cars are way more expensive now. My 1st car was $500.

@antineocon911 @dantypo Right but you need to look at more than JUST the minimum wage. In the 70s about 15-20% of workers were working at minimum wage. Currently less than 1% of workers are at minimum wage. This means while minimum wage hasn't changed people are still getting more money.

@dantypo My point is that the minimum wage hasn't gone up in 17 years. Your daughter can fill her tank because she's paid twice the fed min wage. Why should a minimum wage employee in 2026 get paid significantly less than one in 2007, because that's the reality in terms of buying power.

My daughter makes $14 (the starting pay around our parts) an hour at Chipotle.
When gas is normal ($3 a gallon) it takes her 3 hours.
In 1990, when gas was $1.20 & I made $3.35, that was 5 hours of work.
