@_CEVAW Almost 94% of all marriage dispensation were approved by judges. One of the oft-cited reason for proposing dispensation is religion-related: child marriage is not against religious teaching, and marriage is to avoid religious violation (e.g. sexual activity before marriage).

The deadline for papers for the Australasian Development Economics Workshop, to be held this year at the ANU on the 4th and 5th of June, is approaching. Submissions will be received in pdf format until 15 March 2026 via the ADEW webpage crawford.anu.edu.au/acde/adew2026. Full drafts of papers must be submitted with an abstract not exceeding 300 words. Financial assistance will also be available for a limited number of Australian-based PhD students. The 2026 Keynote Speaker is Christopher Woodruff, Professor of Development Economics, @OxfordEconDept.
