Australia and the Philippines are close friends and strategic partners. Honoured to join 🇵🇭 Ambassador Morales, Ministers and the Filipino-Australian community to celebrate 80 years of diplomatic relations.

For 80 years, Australia and the Philippines have built a strong and enduring relationship based on shared principles. Today I had the pleasure of celebrating this milestone, and our long friendship and partnership, with the Philippine Ambassador and Filipino-Australian community.

When Australia looks up to the world, we see Southeast Asia. Some great discussions with my Southeast Asian counterparts in Sydney this week, reinforcing our partnerships and the value of deeper collaboration.

Australia is joining the Luzon Economic Corridor, expanding our economic partnership with the Philippines. Through mobilising investment and a new AUD45 million ODA program, we’ll strengthen regional connectivity, support resilient supply chains and drive shared economic growth.

This year 🇦🇺 & 🇵🇭 mark 80 years of diplomatic relations and 🇵🇭’s ASEAN Chairship! Undersecretary Hererra-Lim and I discussed how we can continue to work together on issues like energy security and enhancing trade and investment to ensure a peaceful, stable and prosperous region.

The Australia-Indonesia partnership has been one of shared purpose. Delighted to discuss shared priorities with @krisnamurthiINA including ASEAN, the Jakarta Treaty and economic resilience.

Australia and Singapore are collaborating to strengthen energy supply chains. We were pleased to host Puah Kok Keong, CEO of Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) on a Special Visits Program this week. EMA is a key partner in advancing our sustainable energy future.

Today I spoke with President Tô Lâm of Vietnam. Our trade with Vietnam is at record levels. But there’s more we can do together to grow both our economies. President Tô Lâm and I committed to continue our work boosting trade and strengthening links between our businesses. We also discussed the conflict in the Middle East, and the importance of countries in our region working together to address energy security. Vietnam is an important partner, and we’ll keep building on that relationship.

Indonesia serves as the Country Coordinator for the ASEAN–Australia Dialogue Partnership for 2024-2027. In this role, Indonesia drives dialogue between ASEAN and Australia, aligns cooperation with ASEAN priorities, and has facilitated joint policy development, organised ministerial conferences, and launched exchange programmes, ensuring effective implementation of programmes across the political-security, economic, and socio-cultural pillars. As the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Partnership, Indonesia also works closely with ASEAN Member States and the ASEAN Secretariat to promote a cohesive, forward-looking partnership that contributes to a stable, inclusive, and resilient ASEAN–Australia relationship. #ASEANDialoguePartnersCooperation

This evening, I spoke with President @prabowo of Indonesia. We discussed the conflict in the Middle East and the impact it’s having in our region. Australia and Indonesia are working together to support the flow of essential goods, and to make our energy supply chains more resilient for the future. I thanked President Prabowo for helping secure more fertiliser for Australia. Strong relationships in our region matter more than ever, and our two nations are the closest of friends.

The partnership between ASEAN and Australia (@AusAmbASEAN) was built on trust, mutual respect, shared priorities, and a commitment to long-term collaboration. Over the years, this partnership has continued to deepen, advancing cooperation across areas that matter most for the region’s stability, prosperity, and sustainable development. This year marks a special milestone as ASEAN and Australia celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, reflecting the strength and growing depth of this enduring partnership. #ASEANDialoguePartnersCooperation

Australia’s security, prosperity and economic future is tied to Southeast Asia. Fantastic to work with close friends in Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore this week to strengthen our shared economic resilience, incl concluding negotiations on an economic resilience agreement with 🇸🇬.

Together with Minister Farrell this week, we finalised an agreement to strengthen the flow of fuel and other essential goods between Australia and Singapore. By working with trusted regional partners, we can stay ahead of disruptions and keep supply flowing when it counts.

Friends matter always - but never more than in difficult times. Thank you to @VivianBala for the progress we’ve made on further strengthening our economic resilience in response to the conflict in the Middle East.
