Yesterday: a woman I didn’t know was telling me about an overwhelmed mother friend. “One of her kids is super smart and one of them is autistic.” I don’t always think well on my feet, so I mentally corrected her: both of them are autistic. Both of them are super smart.

@MegStEsprit I’m getting ready to hire some childcare and I’ve thought very seriously about selecting male candidates as well as women. I want my daughter to see a wide range of healthy men.

I’ve been using teens I trust to fill in gaps in childcare. Nobody comments when it’s a teen girl but *everyone* has an opinion when, like today, it’s a boy. Even from some liberal friends. Do we not want to raise men who are better partners and fathers? He’s fully capable.
