@MehdiHacks Ha! I just ordered one this morning. A friend has the P2 and loves it. I've got a bulkier standalone thermal camera, but have realized I need a small one for the tool bag for use on the go.

Brings to mind some commentary from a Chuck Palahniuk interview that stuck with me. "We’re not really trained to go to that place of wanting to learn something, of wanting to create something, to apprentice yourself to somebody who creates the thing that you dream of creating. It’s much easier to fall into the trap of ‘these things are for sale and the people who sell them will treat you really nice.’ It’s much much harder to apprentice yourself and develop the pride of a skill."

He died not too long after, I did feel a pang of guilt about it.
His novel 'Magnetic Field(s)' is decent, sort of an American Martin Amis as a voice.

In the waning days of my graduate 'career' at Berkeley, flailing at a PhD in physics and avoiding the lab, I took the creative writing workshop which was meant for aspiring writers and run like the Iowa Writers' Workshop where you wrote a bit, read classics of short form, and (unfortunately) read a lot of your colleagues' fiction.
One day the professor emails me that it was 'imperative' I come to his office, where he proceeded to upbraid me for ruthlessly ripping the work of everyone else. I toned it down while working on my own stuff but I remembered everyone's names.
Since then (and since Chaos Monkeys) every couple of years, I Google-stalk everyone and see if they produced anything. One workshopper became an academic and produced a CV-full of unreadable boilerplate, another published an instantly-forgotten novel...and that's it.
So sorry Professor Loewinsohn, you were a kind man with good taste in readings, but I was right.

@MehdiHacks HF+ Discovery has been on my wish list for a long while; thought I'd share that I finally ordered one after seeing this post.

If America doesn't get serious about changing this quickly, there's going to be no way for any US based AI providers to compete with China.

Flooring Inc. They were doing 35% off over Presidents' Day so it was a good price. Went with 3/8". Very happy with it so far! Makes a huge difference over old stained concrete floors (house is from the 70s). We're trying to keep it usable for cars. Love the PRX rack that we put up last year.
