I learned something else today about Alabama prison showed my naivety. Lockup here is a cell with a solid door with no ventilation even when it’s 100 degrees outside and only an hour out every few days. Like being buried alive.

I don’t believe in “progressive prosecution.” Can someone explain to me what that’s supposed to mean? You still lock up black and poor people, but just a smaller amount? I’m not understanding.

@aprisondiary No it’s not noted at all. It’s my understanding that the SURGEON general (different from ATTORNEY general) has no authority over prison releases only the president and attorney general (Barr) over federal prisons, and the governors over state prisons.
