Es ist wirklich heftig, wie technologiefeindlich und beleidigend die grüne Bubble unterwegs ist. Anscheinend ist Fusionsenergie das neue Brokdorf für die grünen Aktivisten/Sympathisanten. Krass. Und die Art der Auseinandersetzung ist weit weg von dem moralischen Zeigefinger, der so gerne dort immer erhoben wird. Ich staune nur. @baha_jam erlebt es ja ähnlich.

Eigentlich glaub ich ja daran, dass Bahn fahren ne gute Art zu reisen ist. Aber dann fahr ich doch mal wieder mit der deutschen Bahn und merke: ja, aber nicht in Deutschland.

@aptituz Bei mir ist es schon soweit, dass ich überrascht bin, wenn alles klappt und ich pünktlich am Ziel ankomme. Echt traurig.

In Deutschland Bahn fahren be like: wenn dein Zug eigentlich um 7:52 abfahren soll, stattdessen eine Stunde früher abfährt und trotzdem erst zur ursprünglichen Zeit ankommen soll. Eine Stunde mehr Fahrzeit?

@maumenegaz @nicksaris_ @eloffd I like how your comments proof the point of the OP. :) I.e that reliability is the result of good practices, more specifically a system of tests, not individuals doing things right.

I disagree that Software Engineers should be accountable. Everyone writes bad code. Some more than others. If that bad code can be easily released to cause havoc in the real world, the problem is the management and processes that enabled it. Hold the company and its management responsible. All programmers that I know wish they could spend more time on tests, have better QA processes, have good practices like canary deployments, etc. We have to actually force ourselves to release code we don't think is good enough because management is standing there tapping their foot and pointing at their watch. The problem at Crowdstrike isn't the engineer that messed up, because all of their engineers will mess up sooner or later. The problem is the poor processes they have in place, a lack of sensible precautions like canary deployments and sufficient automated and manual testing. The fault lies 100% with management, and I hope they are held accountable in the lawsuits that follow. But watch them pay themselves hefty bonuses while they shift the blame to the people at the bottom of the hierarchy who didn't have responsibility or a say in the matter.

@40PercentGerman It’s not that complicated: Friends, family and everyone who agreed to it “Du”, in doubt use “Sie”. The more casual/informal the place, the more likely is that “Sie” has been abandoned.

One part of German I've struggled with is whether to address people with Sie or Du. Germans have internalised it to such an extent they're awful at explaining when to use them. Luckily, I found this, but how simple can grammar be when it needs a flowchart to explain?
