@PenseesofPascal My original intent was to have genders for each divine caster type. The clerics/crusaders were male-only. This proved highly unpopular with playtesters. A lot of campaigns actually have male Priests, Bladedancers, and Witches, for that matter. Not a popular design feature.

@archon Okay but Macris, can you possibly make a male only class sometime? You have Priestess, Blade Dancer and Witch for the gals.
I understand the fun of having female specific classes. But I feel like there should be one or two male ones to balance them out.

I am not ashamed to admit that Xena's aesthetics influenced ACKS. There's literally a "warrior princess" template for the Bladedancer class in homage to Xena. And of course you see it in the art.

I don't think people realize the scope of MMOs. They were "big" games in terms of funding and team size. Making a successful MMO was like ascending to a godly being. It was successful.
Now every game has bigger budgets and head count to MMOs, and the magic is gone.

When I was really young I used to want to play MMOs cuz the idea of me and my friends in a fantasy world sounded cool but now it’s a dead genre and you have to pay monthly, actually brain dead genre I’m surprised it had such a big impact

I consider myself blessed to have gotten to enjoy MMOs when they were sandbox simulations and not theme parks. For a few brief years, they were really amazing.

It's because they suck and the genre was mastered with SWG but it was mismanaged and the objectively worse form of MMO took over and redefined the genre from sandbox society simulation to pseudoRPG theme parks

@archon It's too bad that being grind heavy put a huge stone wall for people interested in the genre. I know a lot of people like to point their finger with WoW for the downfall, but the genre was stagnant before WoW came around
