@SparklinGuy 2/2 This investment becomes a deterrent while changing fields later. Basically gap year is super rare and unconventional. If its made common place or a part of the system, people wouldn’t mind it.

@SparklinGuy 1/n Fear of peers getting ahead, societal judgements and the fact that a gap year post school is often deemed as negative while applying for jobs or grad studies. Also many of the “smart students” enrol for coaching a couple of months or years before their schooling even ends.
