Nick, shit, you make me feel like the asshole here because I am the one bringing a negative tone into a story where nobody really wants to be the guy asking uncomfortable questions. I publicly and sincerely wished you all the best regarding your cancer diagnosis, and I still mean that. I genuinely hope you recover and get through this. But I also cannot pretend this does not feel strange from the outside. You have been flexing wins, trades, money and success across the timeline for years, and now suddenly the story is that a memecoin and its fees are needed to help cover chemo and hospital costs. Maybe there is context I am missing, and maybe the US healthcare system is so broken that even people who looked financially comfortable can get destroyed by medical bills. I can accept that possibility. At the same time, I struggle with how much this has now become part of the content. Maybe that is my personal discomfort, because I cannot imagine putting something this private into the machine like this, especially in a space where attention, sympathy, fees, liquidity and personal branding are always tangled together. The whole $RICH memecoin thing, with fees supposedly helping to pay hospital costs, is also something I personally probably would not have done. But I also have to be fair here. I live in Europe and do not need to ask anyone to pay my hospital and medical bills. Because here it is considered an absolute basic human need, something every person should have a right to if we want to call ourselves a modern and free civilization. But when someone spends years publicly presenting themselves as winning, wealthy and successful, then suddenly wraps medical hardship, personal tragedy and a memecoin fee structure into the same public narrative, people are allowed to find that uncomfortable.

@PGardencat @MastrXYZ In general yes (nothing is free - tax) May vary from country to country (?) but none of my family or friends have paid for this treatment in Scandinavia and no insurance needed. My kidney transplant + heart surgery and lifelong medication in this regard also free of charge.

if you're new here, this is how the crypto media industry works friday, i publish a video essay on the surge in crypto wrench attacks in france. since then a bunch of outlets have written it up as "news". not one of them reached out to me, the primary source. it's actually kinda sad given that i worked at cointelegraph for 3 years and would happily talk to them. plus, afaik no one checked the stats. So, what you read as "crypto news" is one person's reporting, run through multiple outlets, each adding a headline and calling it journalism. it's basically hearsay + a byline. worth keeping in mind next time you read a crypto headline.

Yeah, I always say the best time to visit Thailand is around late May or early June. Funny enough, my very first trip here was 21 years ago next week. I arrived with nothing but a backpack and a laptop, rented a motorbike and started riding with one wheel on the wrong side of the road 😂 I was excited and completely unaware of what I was getting myself into. I stayed for a month and ended up deciding to live in Thailand forever. Easily one of the best decisions of my life. Back then I used to do my radio DJ shows every weekend from Lee’s Garden in Ban Tai right on the beach. They had massive speakers and a rooftop bar overlooking the sea. We became good friends with a lot of locals and eventually my friend built a little hut in the jungle in Ban Kai. He lived there for long but passed away a few months ago. Amazing times, real island life. I was never really into the Full Moon Parties or the crazy farangs getting wasted on the beach trying too hard to look cool. I always preferred the quieter side of Thailand, the real side in Ban Tai, Chaloklum, Haad Yao, Wok Tum, Srithanu and Thongsala. Enjoy your stay and stay safe near the steep hills between Haad Rin and Ban Kai with the motorbike.
