@arkinian1 @TheModerateCase Apartheid is *racial* differentiation. An Israeli Arab is the same race as a Palestinian and is an Israeli citizen, so no apartheid. Of course the definition was modified so it would include Israel.

Israel is more diverse than almost every other country in the region. ~21% Arab citizens with full rights, Jews from Europe, the Arab world, Ethiopia & beyond. And as the sole Jewish state and refuge after millennia of persecution, it has every right to preserve its character.

Only when video evidence emerged directly contradicting part of it did they offer a soft “update” to the piece. Note how differently critics of the Kristof piece are treated. Where the original article did not interview a single victim, Kristof spoke to 14, all corroborated in other ways too. The critics do not challenge a single fact, instead they argue that the behavior described is simply impossible, or dogs would never do that, and all the witnesses and victims are biased against Israel and should not be listened to. Not a single honest criticism of what he has reported has been presented that contradicts the facts he laid out. Yet those critics — who hysterically impugn his character and even in many cases suggest he should be executed — get a polite and respectful reply from the Times. (And in their reply they double down on their old Screams piece, stridently and without evidence.)

If you’re looking for accountability, try sanctions!

Stop calling it “one bad apple.” This violence didn’t start with Ben Gvir and it won’t end with him unless we confront the whole structure. From the Nakba to today, the policy is the point. Ben Gvir isn’t an “exception.” He is the system, built on humiliation, domination, and dehumanization against Palestinians for decades. Outrage that stops at one name and against foreign activists only changes nothing. Keep the pressure until every Palestinian is free from israeli dungeons and occupation of their lands and lives.
