That's a marketing decision each company makes.

We publicly test other crop varieties for disease. Fairly obvious leaving it to specific companies to self identify is not happening consistently enough.

Hello anyone with a sweep net. We've had south winds and aster leafhoppers in grasses and #alfalfa at the @AAFC_Canada Saskatoon Research Farm. Can you take 100 sweeps from somewhere green and freeze them in a plastic bag with date and site on it, and we'll see where they went!

Even w/ a vaccine, we won't reach herd immunity w/out #antivaxxers. Instead of fruitless arguments, we need to offer them real alternatives, like giving them a weakened form of the virus or small pieces of critical viral proteins to trigger a protective immune response.

@FreshAirFarmer Sounds like something that was put in place for protectionist reasons, not safety.

It is time to allow cuts of meat from provincially inspected plants to be sold anywhere in Canada. Current rule says if the plant has provincial inspectors, it can only be sold in that province. It must have federal inspectors (CFIA) to be sold anywhere. Time to change that.

@ScottGottliebMD @KamounLab The majority of our personal interactions occur indoors. Those contacts are also much more traceable. The only reason they could cluster each outbreak was because it occurred indoors in a traceable setting, thus so few outdoor clusters. The data set is not random!

New: Study of 318 outbreaks in China found transmission occurred out-of-doors in only one, involving just 2 cases. Most occurred in home or public transport. Raises key chance for states to move services outdoors (religious, gym classes, restaurants, etc). medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
