🌲🐻 Thanks to conservation easements, land is preserved and protected instead of sold for development or urbanization. We need MORE conservation easements in the future. 🐻🌲

The “historical” purpose of wilderness connects us w/ the people, communities, & cultures that have historical & current relationships w/ places in NPS wilderness. For the Tlingit, Glacier Bay is Homeland, a place that sustains past, present, & future generations. #Wilderness

A visit to the @BLMNational Trona Pinnacles is like a journey to another planet. 🪐✨ This unusual California landscape consists of more than 500 tufa (calcium carbonate) pinnacles rising from the bed of the Searles Dry Lake basin. Pic by Jake Garmon

While moose are active all day long, they are most active during dawn and dusk as they forage and bulk up for winter. Remember to keep a safe distance of at least 50 yards from moose. Photo by Tom Koerner/USFWS.

Can we take one last trip down wildflower lane? We're already getting nostalgic for these beguiling blooms. Autumn will soon settle in like an old friend and the clear, crisp night skies will return to the 9,000-foot peaks of the @BLMNational Granite Range in northwest Nevada.

Snowy egrets can be seen stealthily hunting for fish, frogs, and other aquatic prey along coasts and lakesides across the southern half of the US. You can identify them by their black bills and bright yellow feet. Photo: Rick Cantu/USFWS

Always nice to see the younger generation learning about the importance of conservation and how private land conservation can help keep land and wildlife preserved for generations to come.

What a pleasure to host @UnionCollege students and faculty on Friday during their 3-week #Adirondack term! We had a great discussion about conservation easements and how private landowners protect public environmental values.

Cedar Breaks National Monument in Utah has a geologic amphitheater filled with scenic wonders. It's also a great place to find a little solitude. If quiet in nature is what you're looking for, we have some suggestions... doi.gov/blog/10-altern… Pic by Seth Betterly

Rugged wilderness: Carroll Glacier leaves behind a rocky, treacherous landscape as it recedes. Located between Queen and Wachusett Inlets, Carroll Glacier is one of the park's larger glaciers in total area, extending north into Canada and the Alsek Range. 📸NPS Photo / J. Womble
