Bam Adebayo reportedly punched Tyler Herro without hesitation, leaving a small mark under his left eye, per @TheAthletic “The incident took place at a gym inside the Resorts World Casino in front of Herro’s AAU team. According to multiple source who witnessed the incident and were granted anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter, Adebayo walked onto the courts and Herro said something to him. Adebayo proceed to walk over to Herro and, without hesitation, punch him. Herro’s AAU coach confronted Adebayo, and Herro yelled at his former teammate while being escorted out by security personnel. Both players left the scene on their own…Herro appeared to have a small mark under his left eye during the interview, which occurred shortly before news of the altercation with Adebayo emerged.” (Via nytimes.com/athletic/74374…)

@Major_Passons That’s why Pat didn’t give him an extension that would have crippled the Heat in the future. Jimmy made his own bed and he has to lay in it.

I don't get the appeal of Cleveland for LeBron other than the fact it's home. James, Mitchell and Harden is an awful fit. Not enough D, not enough off-ball movement. Not enough spacing with Allen and Mobley either. A flawed bench. Their coach just blundered big-time. I just don't get it. If he's going to Cleveland for a homecoming, sure, that's a great story for the final chapter. But compared to the other options on the table, Cleveland's roster needs a lot of work to make any sense for basketball reasons.

@John_Zannis Actually is has less to do about Jaylen Brown and more to do with the fact Boston chose to take Paul George’s toxic contract because he is a negative asset that Philly was trying to dump and were willing to trade a first to get off his bad contract.

All the Jaylen Brown discourse right now begins with the foundational belief that he is a top 15 NBA player. What this tweet presupposes is....maybe he isn't?

The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to sign 2025 second-round pick Kam Jones on a two-way NBA deal, sources tell ESPN. Jones was traded from Indiana to Chicago on draft night before being released, and now joins the Bucks.

JJ Redick says Michael Jordan and California are the reason NBA players and other athletes pay the jock tax “I believe Michael Jordan was essentially the reason that athletes get taxed the same way that entertainers get taxed. At the height of MJ, this guy's earning $30 million on his NBA salary, and he's going and playing in the finals in these different states” “I want to say it was California. They were like, ‘Ah, this is messed up. This guy should be paying us taxes while he's here. He's working. He's making a lot of money.’ So all these states instituted this tax” “When people sign NBA contracts and it's like, ‘Oh, this guy's worth this amount of money,’ it's like, no. Cut it in half before the guy spends a dollar. In some states like California you probably cut it a little bit more than half because then you're paying agent fees as well” “I remember you could negotiate like a 20% signing bonus on your rookie deal. I was expecting $200,000 to be deposited into my account on August 15th. I was like, ‘This is the most money I'll ever have.’ Then I saw the wire hit, and I was like, ‘Oh’”

The Bucks turned down the Celtics offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo because they wouldn’t include more than two first round picks or any of their young talent, not because of contract negotiations, per @BrettSiegelNBA

This isn’t that complicated, unfortunately. Celtics decided they were not going to extend Brown. So, since you’re not gonna let him walk, he becomes a trade asset. The reason they considered it last offseason and did it now vs waiting is because his value is only getting worse.
Underdog NBA@UnderdogNBA

Additional details on Jaylen Brown trade, per @sam_amick, @byjayking: - Trade "not driven by finances" - Blazers' analytics view Brown as a "negative player" - One current GM doesn't view Brown as a top-50 player in the league - Celtics believe all four picks received will be valuable whether kept or used in trades - Boston questioned whether Brown would buy in to re-accepting a smaller role alongside Jayson Tatum - Celtics thought Brown went "off script" too often during playoff series loss to Sixers

@FDSportsbook Payton Pritchard is one year younger than Jalen Brunson. He’s done developing. He ain’t never going to be Jalen Brunson who is one of the best playoff basketball players ever.

@TotalProSports You mean Shaq got those rings. Also look at Kobe’s age 33 to 40 seasons and realize how dumb this is when you compare to LeBron.

@CelticsLead I would say this is the dumbest things I’ve ever read but then I remembered that the Celtics just traded Jaylen Brown for broken ass Paul George’s horrible contract and only two first round picks. So I guess nothing is out of the question since Boston proved anyone can be dumb.

🚨 Blockbuster Trade Idea: Celtics receive: Devin Booker Suns receive: Paul George, 3 unprotected 1st-round picks, and a 2031 pick swap. With Booker's massive $57M contract looming as a major roster-building hurdle, his situation is starting to look a lot like Jaylen Brown's. per @StephNoh
