@Gameoverluke I used to be a fan but I think Scott did him a disservice by having too much confidence that he would turn the corner. Time in the VFL could have helped him rediscover his mojo. Instead, he was playing in the knowledge that most supporters didn’t think he deserved to be there.

I think all Ess fans want Archie Perkins to be that 3 goal. 20 possie half forward he showed he was against the Hawks a few times. He has all the ability...just seems like he is happy to play football. Glad he was dropped. Needs to earn his spot back.

@_petercoulson Interesting photo; she looks like a battle hardened soldier expressed in the visuals of female sexuality

@The_Red_Sash I rated Tom Hird at Essendon. Didn’t have a weapon, but when he tackled the ball didn’t come out. When he kicked, it was to the advantage of a team mate. Intelligent decision maker. As each week went by, he got better. Then he got cut so Essendon could keep McBride.

Tom Hird dominating with Port Melbourne today against Sydney in the VFL. Continues to control the midfield - class & poise. Will be picked up for sure next year.

@HistContent Could be an early form of perspective; the figure closest to the artist appears bigger. Might also be an example of making it bigger to make it seem more important - much like the huge statues of Abu Simbel. Suggests agriculture had developed at the time of painting.

The Giant of Séfar Isn’t “Alien” — It’s Still Unexplained Painted in Tassili n’Ajjer during the Green Sahara, “Round Head” giants tower over human figures as if scale itself was the message. OSL dating work ties key painted contexts to the early Holocene, but meaning remains the real mystery: ritual masks, trance bodies, or a mythic presence made visible. If this isn’t a “visitor,” why did the artists paint a human-shaped giant watching over everyone else?

@ruth_millington @howardharry @DailyMail The appeal of the mystery in turn made me think of the irony of academia having such a focus on pressuring students to write artist statements and explain their work, thereby removing mystery and making their work defined.

Which is more inspirational? Beauty or pain? Looking at van Gogh’s life, you might say pain, as he had some tragic moments, but looking at his art, it seems he found inspiration in beauty. Where does your inspiration well from?

@DailyClassicArt At first glance, I thought someone had painted the Melbourne building in Canberra in an expressionist style

Art lasts when it outgrows its maker- when it becomes stranger, freer, and more alive than the artist ever imagined or intended.

@xnailbunnyx Coming from Premiere Pro I find it too basic. No key frames. I couldn’t even find a razor blade to cut.

In 2008, I saw Old Person’s Home by Sung Yuan and Peng Yu at 798 in Beijing. The artwork had world leaders bumping around in wheel chairs. Latest photos of Trump made me think of it.

@danderfield Down under by Men at Work - an unofficial Australian national anthem but really it’s more of an Australian version of Born in the USA. Lyrics like ‘men plunder’ and ‘better run for cover’ , should have been a hint that Colin Hay really wasn’t that taken with vegemite

Of all the songs whos meaning is greatly misunderstood by the masses… Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) by Green Day has to be my favourite.

I saw an exhibition of some of Picasso’s early cubist work and was a bit underwhelmed. It got be wondering, if you removed the label of ‘influential’ or ‘revolutionary’, what other famous artwork/artists are underwhelming?
