3/3 Faded away you will have Faded away time will have Life - then appears to be Quite, and quite meaningless 1 Sending people your way For making acquaintance Was it a rightful thing to do 2 You realised they were sent; And not there by natural causes Yet you couldn't tell them so Was it a rightful thing to do 3 While all these went on.. And inactions flowed in Faded away, time will have. Faded away, world will have. 4 But chose to disclose Either side, and hope to see Faces those, still again; Then Life may appear to be Quite quite meaningful.

Free-will is very general and untameable area, but here I'm sticking to one corner of it (rather silly): "Free-will to choose friends"! Explores the situation where a society sends strangers toward someone, so that they could be friends. Even when intentions seem rightful, the foundation of such friendships becomes flawed. At some stage, either side has to discuss/disclose the 'forced' attempt. And hope that the handshakes continue! As time ticks away, one may attempt to think what is worthwhile to pursue. As it was difficult to convey, I am using two mediums (one painting and a poem (3/3)) Possibly still incomplete! :) 2/3

Why did past societies build so much "useless" beauty everywhere — and why did we stop? It might be a measure of a culture's health... (thread) 🧵

Took my parents to the IISc Bangalore campus because dad studied there. After, they wanted to go check out the house they lived in then. Small problem though - all they remembered was it was in RT Nagar. After 32 years and massive change in scenery, that piece of information doesn’t narrow it down, dad. He then asks me to drop him at the ISRO office because he often walked home. We park somewhere near, and start to follow him. Incredibly, he takes every correct turn, robotic almost. No Google Maps, he marches on like he owns the place and never left, and 30 mins later, we find ourselves at the doorstep of the first house we lived in together. Muscle memory is truly special if it can serve you like that after three decades.

It’s been just over a year since I left my #research and #academia life behind, and just about a year since I started #freelancing full time as a science journalist. Here’s what I’ve been up to since then – professionally and personally. A🧵(1/15)

Out today in @NatureBiotech! PhD students & postdocs: there's a trick – overlooked and underused – for having new ideas in the creative process. Talk science 1 on 1 with a science buddy that you trust and think of it as an improvisation. nature.com/articles/s4158…@MartinJLercher

The Nobel Prize

The 2023 #NobelPrize laureates in physics are being recognised for their experiments, which have given humanity new tools for exploring the world of electrons inside atoms and molecules. Pierre Agostini, Ferenc Krausz and Anne L’Huillier have demonstrated a way to create extremely short pulses of light that can be used to measure the rapid processes in which electrons move or change energy. The laureates’ contributions have enabled the investigation of processes that are so rapid they were previously impossible to follow.
