@johnson201337 @kingkohli2008 @udit_buch he could have easily taken a break from white ball format specially IPL after CT2025 and should have focused on test cricket and even if he would have said the selectors the same thing may be it would have worked out for him.

@arunn049 @kingkohli2008 @udit_buch He wouldn't have retired if given a choice not forced one like this I felt he didn't prioritize white ball he was on par but his red ball game standards has been low due to ipl as he wants to be the selfless intent merchant and prove everyone he can bat like this

No one can be this consistent for this long across all formats, regardless of the situation. His career graph goes to another level when you look at how consistently he has performed in T20s.

@johnson201337 @kingkohli2008 @udit_buch Ya it was forced by BCCI but even if VK wouldn't have played it he would have still got runs in ODI format, it's still hard to believe that he prioritised white ball format over test cricket and no one even imagined it 5 years back.

@arunn049 @kingkohli2008 @udit_buch That was forced by bcci to everyone to play some games otherwise why would he leave his family and play random domestic vht matches who doesn't even play ranjis

@SaviorKohli absolute nonsense what GG and heaven has to do with it?he should ve taken break from IPL and T20 format and should ve played domestic red ball cricket in 2021-22 season itself, which would ve helped him to work on his weakness so he himself is responsible for his downfall in test

In january 2025, Virat Kohli had a conversation with his Ranji team coach where he told him that “I will play some India A matches in England for practice and I want to hit 4-5 centuries in England tour like I did in 2018” Gambhir mahn you won't see heaven 💔

@kingkohli2008 @johnson201337 @udit_buch ya but that's acceptable and many players do so but the biggest disappointment will always be that with the kind of fitness and passion,he never really put in that extra effort to upgrade his test game by playing domestic red ball cricket.

Can you guess the bowler's name? If you watched cricket in the 90s, it is an easy guess. He had the most fluid action.

@nanuramu Dravid struggle in SA is somewhat similar to ponting and lara struggle in india, even though sample size for lara is quite less.

For all the praises Rahul Dravid has received for his technique, especially against pace, he averages a paltry 29.71, and has scored only 624 runs at a SR of 37.63, in 11 tests, in South Africa. He has only one century and two fifties in the rainbow nation, in 22 innings. 1996: His very first SA tour. He scored 27 not out, watching his team being bundled out for an ignominious 66, at Durban. Later, he suffered twin failures in Cape Town and finally made amends scoring his maiden century (148), at Johannesburg and followed it up with an 81 in the second innings. 2001: The infamous Mike Dennis tour. After having failed as an opener in the Blomfentein test, he batted at his customary no 3 position in Port Elizabeth and scored a painstaking 87 off 241 balls, and helped India save the test. Probably, the best inns of his on South African soil. Apparently, that was the only inns of substance he played on that tour, in four outings. 2006: His average had soared upto 58.75 after a great WI tour. There were high expectations from the Indian capt before this tour, who was going through the purplest of the patches. I vividly remember the Star Network running resplendent promos—dubbing this series—‘The Swabhiman series’; thanks to India’s perennial lackadaisical performances there. Unfortunately, even in that tour, skipper Dravid flattered to deceive. Although he won a test as captain, he couldn’t go past 50 even once in six inns. Despite getting starts in both the inns of the decider at Cape Town, he failed to covert them. 47 was his highest score of the series. 2011: He came to his final tour to SA, with loads of runs against hapless NZ, at home. And, yet again, inexplicably, Dravid couldn’t get going despite a few good starts. It was an encore of 2006—no half century in six inns. His highest being 43 at Centurion. Well, for a great batter to not score even a fifty in 12 innings, in a particular country, is, indeed, a failure of gigantic proportions. As a fan, I’ve watched his three tours to SA starting from 2001. Though his numbers are abysmal overall, to his credit he didn’t look out of the place, or ugly. In my opinion, his ultra defensive approach cost him dearly, in SA. It’s just that he somehow couldn’t build big innings; or did he not have enough attacking shots to get out of trouble? May be. But, for me, as a fan, Dravid’s failures in South Africa, will always be a bitter pill to swallow #RahulDravid #TestCricket #SouthAfrica

@TkNandy @nanuramu he did well in 2003-04 and 2008 series but he played a huge role in test matches that we won there.

@nanuramu Dravid's 29.71 in SA came on seaming pitches where India often collapsed (team avg ~27). His 148+81 in '96 vs prime Donald/Pollock was heroic. Pre-Steyn he averaged 42. Many greats struggled there—it's not "failure" but tough conditions vs world-class pace.

@kingkohli2008 @johnson201337 @udit_buch yup but post covid that was not the case and there was reduction in number of ODI's so it was important for VK to evolve as a test batsman which unfortunately he failed to do so.

@weymarplanet to survive and to have a successful career in test cricket for long term a cricketer has to keep evolving as compared to other formats bcz in ODI and T20 pitch and conditions doesn't play a huge role as compared to tests

I see folks misusing the 'GOAT' or 'legend' title everyday. But is it right to call someone a legend if they don't have a Test legacy? 🏏 Legendary Michael Holding once said: 'Kieron Pollard is not a cricketer, because he didn't play Test Cricket.' A bit harsh, but is he wrong?

@weymarplanet Test cricket will always be considered as benchmark for determining greatness of player bcz its is the most challenging format,it tests you mentally and physically as compared to other formats and only quality players can have a long test career with consistency.

@johnson201337 @udit_buch yup spot on, gill does have the potential to become a good test cricketer, but the issue with him is that he wants to play all the formats and if he does that it will hamper his test match game.

@randomcricfacts if we filter it with pitch wise then do agree to some extend and even in that eng and pak can be excluded bcz they mostly prepare flat pitches.

@randomcricfacts that would always be debatable but if one has to include format wise then in ODI bowling standard has deteriorated post 2010 but in tests due to pitches and WTC it has improved for some of the teams

@arunn049 Let me phrase it in a way that maybe clarifies my stance - There were a few notable better individual bowlers back in the 90s but the bowling attacks overall were better in 2010s.
