Prime Minister Starmer could (and should) have said:
“This is a time for serious work, not rage. And let me be clear: we will ensure that anyone found engaging in favoring any race meets the full force of the law - in contrast to what we have done so far.”

He actually said: “This is a time for serious work, not rage. And let me be clear: we will ensure anyone found engaging in disorder meets the full force of the law, as we have done before.”
But… look, I’m not British. I only have friends in your country. And I have my own opinion. Politicians are attacking the Prime Minister, but these #DoubleStandards are not an invention of the current government - this has been going on in your country for years. You attack the government, then applaud the opposition. Don’t let yourselves be manipulated. Neither side actually cares about you.
For me, as a Pole, the British police used to be a symbol of safety and professionalism. In my country, the police are still working hard to earn a good reputation because for decades they were a tool of oppression.
It is your police, not the politicians, who must take the first step. They do a hard and dangerous job. They arrive at crime scenes, put themselves at risk, and often have just a few minutes to make life - changing decisions. They only need to be given the right tools to do their job properly.
