@theSiliconSiren Next do multiple SCSI devices. You have to double check all the settings, set up the altar and the candles, make sure you had the robe dry-cleaned, used the right inflections in the chants and if it worked, there was a 50% chance it didn’t the next time though nothing changed.

In the 90s, your Sound Blaster and modem could both try to use IRQ 5. Your PC’s response? Nope 🚫 No sound. No internet. No explanation. IRQ conflicts were chaos 😵

@B_Garelick I’m imagining that the dome is spherical, was sitting nearby, the engine was running at full power, and and the dome got close and was pulled against the cowling that it made a proportionally loud “SSSSSSSSSSUMP!” sound like the bank’s vacuum tubes.

@SmokeyTheCone @synblinkerfluid Could have been. It wasn’t impossible to replace the drivetrain with a standard CJ5’s 4WD and moving the steering wheel to the left side was relatively simple, too; but at that point save the effort and just get a hard top on a CJ5 (or later)

@Waterfall_Clean @synblinkerfluid I owned one. While it could reach freeway speeds (unlike the LLV), the best mileage I ever got on it was 10.4 miles per gallon.

Uncle Walt’s Little Known Facts
The first brand-new attraction added after the Magic Kingdom opened was If You Had Wings, which debuted on June 5, 1972. Eastern Airlines poured $10 million into the sponsorship, making it a full-on “commercial” for their routes. The Omnimover system it used was one of the fastest ever built, running at a brisk 2 feet per second with a true “speed room” finale, a super-speed tunnel where 70 mm rear-projected jets, cars, and trains whipped around riders at dizzying angles, creating the sensation of supersonic flight (the same tech was later used in World of Motion). Legendary Imagineer Claude Coats designed it as a travelogue, using 42 projectors and rear-projections screens to whisk guests through Mexico, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Trinidad, and New Orleans (all Eastern destinations). The entire track the ride used still exists today…just running in reverse. When it closed in 1987, the track was used for Delta Dreamflight, Take Flight, and, finally, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. #WaltDisneyWorld #DisneyFacts

@SuperSisi I got the gold Zelda camera as mail order from Nintendo Power. Now I have it, a green one, and both versions of the printer. You can’t find the adhesive-back thermal paper that fits any more, but they do still make compatible paper that works in the printer.

Somewhere between Apocalypse Now and The Matrix, let’s remember Laurence Fishburne was Cowboy Curtis on Pee Wee's Playhouse in the '80s.

McDonald's Chicken Nugget Tetris (2023) has now been dumped and emulated. This is a significant achievement for me, as the game's microcontroller is quite modern, and tackling something like this was beyond my reach until now.

@CountryM0j0 @w33dl0rd @Bob_Janke There’s not too many other filmed-for-TV/movie aircraft incidents that had deaths or critical injuries that made it into the Final Cut. Plenty of other accidents that were kept but didn’t have injuries (original Pearl Harbor, 12 o clock High, etc.
