🇧🇷 I do think João Gomes could be a really smart signing for Liverpool this summer. Bit of a Wijnaldum esque move. Press resistant midfielder who covers a lot of distances, works tirelessly and is a good ball carrier as well. Only Elliot Anderson (231) won more ground duels than him (199) in the PL last season. Actually think he’s a decent passer, too. He’ll definitely inject some intensity and energy into Andoni Iraola’s midfield which is much needed.

Tyler Morton has so many great attributes. He needed to put on some muscle and get super fit. But is young enough to have solved that physicality issues fairly easily.
Someone like Iraola would really be able to develop him. Such a shame we sold him?
I know I’m biased as I like local lads to be given every chance. But he does have a big ceiling of development opportunity in the right hands…

For me that’s all it can be. Utilise Dom’s running power and crossing ability. Sign Barcola or whoever and play them on the left. The balance is right.

Everyone knows that Wirtz would be best employed as a 10 behind a striker, but there’s a reticence to actually discuss what a ‘10’ is. Is a 10 a midfielder or a forward ? IMO the best 10s are attackers. You want them in the box and playing close to the 9. They should aim to be your 2nd top scorer, or pretty close to that. If you play a 10 in the forward line, you then have to compromise elsewhere. You can’t play with a 10 and 2 out and out attacking wingers. Doing so, is effectively a 424 set up, and that has no solidity as a formation, against the better teams. To get the best out of Wirtz as an attacking 10, you need one fast winger on one side, and an attacking midfielder on the other, prepared to tuck in and form a central midfield 3, out of possession. The alternative is to play Wirtz, off the left in the ‘Coutinho role’. What Wirtz isn’t, is a midfielder.
