Laundry is a battle you can't win. Especially if you have kids. After our second baby, the laundry situation in our home went crazy. There were piles of unsorted laundry EVERYWHERE. Well, not anymore. Because we DIY'd a system. Introducing the "Trofast Laundry System" 👇👇👇

@swyx @abhishek_n @theappsmith I believe fivetran has logarithmic usage based pricing, which is somewhere between usage with cap and linear based on usage. I think that’s a great model: charge based on usage but discount based on scale.

object oriented programming man's greatest sin. it's a sin of pride, a sin of hubris. to think that we think we could abstract over god's creation

@EmmaVitz Can’t recall a single time that I’ve used trig in an actuarial capacity… but for lots of other things, eg woodworking. Thanks, middle school geometry!

CW: mental health I wish I could have told 2012 Tim that he was doing great. He really was. He was also plagued with daily suicidal thoughts and a firm belief that the planet would be better off if he were not part of it.

📅 Mar 2012 🏢 NZ eScience Infrastructure / Uni of Auckland 🧾Community and Outreach Lead 🥁 Successful! In early 2012, an amazing job opened up working in HPC that I felt utterly unqualified for. I tried to frame humiliating startup failures as wins and it ended up working!

hey python nerds, is there a way to fix this issue? i'm often copy/pasting some nested function from ChatGPT into vscode, but it never gets the tabbing correct, so then I have to spend time fixing the indentation to get code to run pretty annoying

There’s this curious background belief many have where they think most systems must operate near the efficient frontier except of course every system they’ve ever worked inside.

@timClicks Few things: String vs str… like, should I feel bad about copying Strings or should I use str whenever possible? Then really missing the ability to experiment interactively the way I would with iPython. Common example is working with a new Rest API before I have a feel for it

A general question about people's experience with Rust: what were the culture shock moments about learning the language and ecosystem? That is, what have you found difficult coming from Java/Python/C#/C++/...?
