Counterintuitively, I see some startups obsessing *too much* over their first customer. Big enterprise customer ghosting you? Maybe they’re just not a good fit. Go get 10 more. Top-of-funnel solves most problems.

After advising 50+ consumer companies over the last year, the one thing that separates those who can execute and those who can't: Having a full-time designer in the room at all times I've met with countless companies that have raised millions—and even one that has raised billions—that do not even have a designer on payroll. This makes product development broken: 1/ You simply cannot have constructive conversations about ideas without visualizing them in real-time 2/ Your experiments will frequently have inconclusive results because users cannot discover features or they misunderstand how they work 3/ There is no one who can galvanize the team with a vision of what the product could look and feel like And to be abundantly clear: I'm not referring to visual UI or graphics. I'm talking about someone who can think through the fundamental building blocks of product comprehension—like navigation, interaction and copywriting—and is technically savvy enough to visualize those components in high resolution. There can certainly be exceptions to not having a designer, like where the CEO is an exceptional visual thinker, but that does not scale beyond a small team. At the end of day, products live and die in the pixels: it's what the users see and tap. And without someone shepherding that process, you are effectively wandering the desert blind.

今天桥水达利欧在清华的演讲,笔记重点: 1. 分散投资:构建10-15个非相关资产组合,可降低80%风险、实现年化90%+胜率 2. 普通投资者应专注beta(市场整体回报),不盲目追求高难度alpha(超额收益) 3.

Shopify just mass-democratized something most people won't register for another 6 months. $378 billion in GMV. 5.6 million stores. And they just gave every AI coding agent direct write access to the entire store backend: products, orders, inventory, SEO, images. That screenshot is a solo merchant typing "Optimize all my products for SEO" and Claude updating 32 product listings, rewriting alt text, applying meta descriptions, and verifying every change. One prompt. No Fiverr freelancer. No $200/month app subscription. No agency retainer. The old cost stack for a small Shopify store: $200-500/month in apps, $2,000+ for an SEO audit, $50/hour for a VA. That just collapsed into a terminal command. 4.8 million active merchants. Most run 10-200 SKUs and manage everything by clicking through the admin one product at a time. Claude Code plus MCP just gave every solo founder the operational capacity of a five-person team. And Shopify isn't building the agent. They're building the protocol that makes every agent a Shopify agent. That's the platform play.

Guys, I’m an idiot. All this time I’ve spent trying not to die, I had toxic turf in my backyard. Artificial turf contains crumb rubber infill made from recycled tires, which leaches chemicals including PFAS, heavy metals, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. These compounds are linked to hormone disruption, carcinogenicity, and systemic inflammation. I don’t know how I missed it. It makes me question my basic competence in life. What gets me is that I try so hard to survey the world of potential idiocy. Then I find out there’s a monument to idiocy sitting right in front of my face that I was blind to. I’m removing the turf, yet I’m still stuck with this seemingly unsolvable problem of how to not be an idiot.

You have no experience. You’ve never started a company. You’ve never had a full time job. Nike is going to kill you. You’re a kid. You don’t have technical skills. You shouldn’t build hardware. Apple is going to kill you. You can’t build hardware. You can’t measure heart rate non-invasively. Athletes don’t care about recovery. Under Armour is going to kill you. It won’t be accurate. You don’t listen. You’re an ineffective leader. You can’t recruit great talent. You’re going to have to pay every athlete. You can’t measure sleep non-invasively. It’s too expensive to research. Athletes are a small market. The product costs too much to make. The product costs too much to sell. Your valuation is too high. Consumers aren’t going to want it. Hardware is too hard. You should measure steps. Fitbit is going to kill you. You can’t build a marketing engine. You can’t raise enough money. You need a real CEO. Google is going to kill you. You can’t be a subscription. You can’t build a brand. You can’t do consumer in Boston. Your valuation is too high. You shouldn’t make accessories. You shouldn’t make apparel. Lululemon is going to kill you. You can’t predict Covid. Stay in your niche. You are going to run out of money. You can’t build a health platform. Amazon is going to kill you. You can’t measure blood pressure. You can’t get medical approvals. The market is too small. You don’t understand AI. The market is too competitive. It won’t work internationally. The supply chain is too complicated. You can’t build an AI. You can’t raise enough money. It’s too competitive. Healthcare isn’t going to want it. … Just keep going ✌️

@posthog IS THE BEST ANALYTICS TOOL EVER. I have been deep into analytics for 8yrs now. But this is the prolly first time after chatgpt and ONLY time a SaaS has properly integrated AI. Whoever thinks SaaS is dead, is so fucking wrong. I am willing to pay so much more for this than I would have ever paid for an anlytics tool.

India’s real gap is not financial products. It is personal finance infrastructure. To truly solve personal finance, you first have to build trust. That means aggregating data across sources, helping users make sense of markets, products, taxes, credit, and investments, and then slowly becoming an actionable platform that can take the right actions for them. But this cannot be built as just another AI wrapper. In India, most people still do not have access to good financial advice. Verification is weak. Trust is low. Compliance matters. And for money, people need confidence before they act. That is why I believe the winning product here will be AI-first, but deeply human in the loop, compliant, and trust-led.

Over the last few weeks, I have spoken to a lot of people about their investing and trading journeys. One pattern kept coming up. People are making investment decisions, but very few are tracking them regularly after that. And in something like wealth creation, daily awareness matters a lot. Same as fitness. Same as work. What gets tracked gets understood, and what gets understood usually gets improved. That thought led us to build Briefcase. It is a very simple product. You onboard once, and every day on WhatsApp you get a personalized report about your investments and the markets. Link in the comments!
