For those perhaps surprised by a Dublin Court today awarding Gerry Adams €100,000 in damages against the BBC for defamation, there is one more case to come.
Next March 2026, our clients, British victims of the IRA’s mainland bombing campaign, will go to trial in London to prove Adam’s responsibility for those terrorist atrocities.
A defamation case against the BBC before a jury in a Dublin court is very different to facing the victims of the IRA in the High Court in London, who are seeking truth and accountability for Adams’ alleged leadership role in and responsibility for the Troubles and, specifically, a terrorist mainland bombing campaign that murdered and maimed thousands of innocent civilians.
Although Adams may have won against the BBC today, witness after witness has now come forward to challenge him, and there are more to follow.
The High Court case next year will reveal in court what the victims believe Adams has sought to conceal from history
If you would like to support the victims’ action, you can do so at the link below

@matthew_shanks1 How on earth does the native language trigger you so much? You are not being forced to use it. At worst you have to see a few signs. That’s it. Are you against parity of esteem?
English

@tonyannett Blah blah blah. Sounds like you are annoyed. You snivelling prick

What a shame. I suspect a public financial appeal to cover costs would have been oversubscribed

@Scot_law_twnk Highest mandate ever for a president. Your man the taxi driver is ridiculously wrong.

Irish politics is really entertaining. My taxi driver in Dublin told me in the first 5 minutes we should nuke Tel Aviv then proceeded to tell me that Catherine Connolly is a lefty Trotsky that everyone in Ireland hates.

It’s sad what we have become.

@NkoziKulu @243_cal @thejournal_ie Get a grip of yourself. It was in poor taste. No need for a fucking witch hunt. Arrested? Ffs.
English

@243_cal @thejournal_ie Common decency, disgusting display not a cultural celebration, they should be arrested for subversion.

Gardaí are making enquiries about the activities of people involved in “Epstein Files” themed floats at St Patrick’s Day parades in the north west of the country, which were condemned this week by sexual abuse support groups as trivialising rape.

Ah yes, nothing says “I was never in the IRA” quite like holding a Sinn Féin press conference while standing in front of a painting of an IRA member jailed for bombing- pure coincidence, obviously!

@bea_johanssen @JasonReidx That there was no case. It was nothing but a vexatious case taken out of spite. Adam’s name is as pure as the driven snow.
English

@ThomNolan @JasonReidx And the grounds for withdrawal were....?
Were the allegations withdrawn? No.
You'd have thought that Adams would have wanted to have his name cleared - as it is, it wasn't.
English

@bea_johanssen @JasonReidx A case was taken. Then withdrew by the plaintiffs. Vindication.
English

@ThomNolan @JasonReidx He wasn't.
Interesting questions for Lord Hermer, though.

@e1duchess @ConorTMcGrane @GenderReceipts You’re a bit of a nasty bollocks actually. A mistake was made. No need to be coming at people with pitchforks.
English

@ThomNolan @ConorTMcGrane @GenderReceipts The organisers . And if they’re putting themselves out there in that role then they why should their names be confidential?
I think naming and shaming is entirely appropriate in this situation. Except I call it people being called to account for their bad decisions .
