It would be silly do place a canal there, it would be about 250 km long and by the looks of it about 25-30 km wide and goes through populated areas. A better placement would be between slightly north of Ras Al-Khaimah in UAE and Haffah in Oman. The canal would be about 40 km long and could be made as wide as necessary (~1-2 km) due to low population in the area. I am by no means an engineer, but it seems to be a better alternative.
