Under Deep Ocean Mission, NIOT is developing 4th Generation deep-ocean Human Submersible Matsya-6000. After completing extensive dry tests in Matsya’s hanger at NIOT, wet tests were carried out at L&T Shipbuilding facility in Kattupalli during Jan/Feb 25. During 5 manned and 5 unmanned dives, functionality of power, control, flotation stability, human support and maneuverability were verified. The successful wet tests have bolstered confidence for demonstrations of Matsya-6000 at up to 500 meters by the end of 2025.@moesgoi

Very concerning. #Environmental risks to health are growing and need to be addressed by the right upstream policies. #SingleUsePlastic ban must be strictly enforced countrywide. Reduce. Recycle. Reuse. @moefcc @CPCB_OFFICIAL @MoHFW_INDIA

An expert panel discussion chaired by Dr.M.A.Atmanand, Former Director – NIOT, and other former scientists of NIOT and few prominent industry members was held as a part of this one day workshop. Panel recommended the various aspects of short term & long term objectives of indigenous development of sensors and systems for the oceanographic applications including commercialization of technologies developed.@moesgoi

Historic discovery by NCPOR and NIOT Scientists! 🌊 India's AUV OMe-6000 has captured stunning images of an active hydrothermal vent on the Central Indian Ridge, confirming NCPOR's April 2024 discovery during near-seabed geophysical surveys. The vent showcases chimneys, black smokers, and chemosynthetic organisms- evidence of active vent, thus marking a historic milestone for Indian Ocean hydrothermal vent exploration! Seabed photography was conducted by scientists from #NCPOR & @MoesNiot, alongside engineers from Kongsberg, using the AUV OMe-6000. A proud moment for Indian ocean research! 🌍 #DeepOceanExploration #ScienceInAction @DrJitendraSingh @moesgoi @Ravi_MoES @TMeloth @DrJohnKurianP2 @ISBAHQ
