With weather expected to impact Sunday's final round @ATTProAm, it's a good time to recall that SNOW delayed the final round at Pebble Beach in 1962 ❄️
After the first three rounds were completed as scheduled, an incredibly rare snowstorm hit the Monterey Peninsula that Saturday evening and into early Sunday.
Understandably, the conditions mandated a Monday finish.
“In Monterey, a golf fan awoke after a big Saturday night, looked at the snow outside his motel window and asked: What am I doing in Squaw Valley?” reported the Monterey Peninsula Herald at the time, referencing a California ski resort.
“I know I got loaded last night, but how did I end up in Squaw Valley?” added veteran pro Jimmy Demaret, a three-time Masters champion.
An image on the Pebble Beach website shows the word “postponed” written in snow across a fairway.
The tournament was completed the next day, and fittingly it took a playoff for Doug Ford to outlast Joe Campbell after both finished at 2-under 286.
It has rarely snowed at Pebble Beach since.
