@zoeschimke I find it interesting that, in a denomination where we follow a Standard that clearly points out the positive and negative implications of each commandment, some seem to have a hard time recognizing BCO prohibitions unless they're explicitly forbidden. @thomas.rickard/words-matter-f2768a721c35" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@thomas.rickar…
English

@sachz Yeah. The lack of dedicated config was just "use the service to set up the service."
English

@augmentedfourth Oh interesting. So you got it to work now?
English

@sachz So... I was connecting to NPMplus over HTTPS on port 81 still, and I was confused that there was no setting to enable a more legit connection. Finally realized... I just needed to set up a "proxy host" for NPMplus to route to itself and serve the necessary certificate. 🤦♂️

@jandrusk You've triggered a Presbyterian by not using the word "fewer."

I still contend that boss battle music should play whenever a challenge is made to the chair at #pcaga
This can absolutely be done with the organ. In fact, that would be the ultimate form of parliamentary boss battle music.
wcf_linux@wcf_linux
Rejected #pcaga musical cues: playing “Vengabus” in the background when an omnibus is pending. The only thing in its favor: it would motivate the commissioners to resolve it as quickly as humanly possible.

English

@_BenRatliff I use ReformedApp for this already, but it's really bare-bones. How will your app be different? And can I help?
English

@cmcwain Also has features locked behind a subscription Pro version. I'll play around with FOSS RetroArch (which does apparently have a way to hook up to RetroAchievements). Honestly, there are half a dozen SNES games and half a dozen Lynx games I'd just replay over and over.
English

@augmentedfourth Looks like Provenance is something for iOS users: github.com/provenance-emu…
Has RetroAchivements, bluetooth controller support, play in landscape, has box art scraping, and you can hide the controller skins.
Would be an easy way to see if you're into the whole phone experience.

Couldn't put the RG353V down.

@cmcwain I don't usually watch TV shows on my phone. If I had a dedicated media device (where battery capacity wasn't tied to reachability/communication), I might. But I didn't realize RetroArch was on iOS these days... that's an interesting idea.
English

@augmentedfourth Would you use it for media streaming? Is your phone not sufficient?
You know you could always just bluetooth an 8-bit do controller to your phone and do everything there without needing a new device. 8bitdo.com/ultimate-mobil…
Haven't use Gamma yet, no. My RG353V is on ArkOS.
English

@cmcwain Yeah, I'm going for the big screen (as well as the familiar horizontal form factor from my youth). Have you tried GammaOS Full vs Lite? I like the idea of the stripped-down Lite, but I also think it would be cool to be able to use it as a media streamer (Hulu, Prime, Plex).
English

@augmentedfourth Yes and yes.
Good choice that Vita Pro. @RetroHandhelds is a great resource for your questions.

I'm currently shopping Anbernic's sale and might pick up a RG 34XXSP for my son, and maybe a bigger screen device for my blind self too.
English

@brohsnbluffs @cmcwain @RetroHandhelds I'm using desktop Safari & Chrome. There doesn't seem to be a way to get back to the list of devices I've filtered out and add another to the comparison. I can click "Search devices to add to comparison" and search, but I can't see the filtered list to add one.
English

@augmentedfourth @cmcwain @RetroHandhelds If on mobile, you should be able to scroll up and there will be a device selection box

English

@brohsnbluffs @cmcwain @RetroHandhelds On the comparison site, I can't figure out how to actually compare multiple items. When I click a device's "+ Add" button, I immediately see a one-item-only comparison table and don't see the list anymore, so I don't know how to add another.
English

@augmentedfourth @cmcwain @RetroHandhelds There's also this that we have been putting together: handhelds.wtf/compatibility / handhelds.wtf/compare
We're still working out some kinks, but it should definitely help. And if something is missing, let me know!
English

@cmcwain So... "custom firmware" is something you load on the Android side, though? Retro handhelds is a rabbit hole category full of hardware and software options, I'm seeing. But the RG Vita Pro looks really cool (and the form factor reminds me of my childhood Atari Lynx).
English

@augmentedfourth I strongly prefer a solid custom firmware. Performance and experience are much better.
When you're setting it up in Android, you need to manage and know which emulator goes to what and each have their own unique settings.
If I wanted Android, I'd just use my phone instead.
English

@cmcwain Is the Android partition helpful? Or is the Linux side really all you need?
English

@augmentedfourth Anbernic makes really cool stuff and they're typically under $100. You should check them out.
This particular model is cool because of the community supported custom firmware and mods make it slick.

English

@jandrusk Because only elders are officers in the courts of the church (session, presbytery, GA). Deacons do have authority, but it's administrative authority within the local congregation, and I believe the overhead for recording diaconal exceptions would be difficult to require.

@augmentedfourth Why do you think that given both offices are required to subscribe to the same standards?

@wcf_linux @aelfred_D And yet, his name is on the lips of Christians more often than any other aside from the persons of the Trinity and Mary... because he's in the Apostle's Creed. learn.ligonier.org/podcasts/thing…
English

@aelfred_D Worse, he’s wavering, reluctant, and indecisive until he’s backed into a corner. He’s not even doing a good job of being a Big Bad Roman. He ultimately comes off as both weak and brutal, a terrible combination by almost any standard. Pilate does not fare well at in in the gospels
English

I’ve always found “what is truth” to be one of the coldest, most upsetting lines in scripture. “Doing his Roman duty”, washing his hands, is its own kind of evil.
Sami Gold@souljagoyteller
Why is it that Pontius Pilate is not more of a villain in Christian history? When reading the New Testament for the first time, I was shocked to see that Pilate is depicted more as doing his Roman duty and not as a satanic force
