@realRick_AUS Have a whinge cunt. Just incredible how you managed to squeeze this much keyboard rage into a tweet while surrounded by all that nature. Truly the pioneer of WiFi-fueled bush rants. 🇦🇺🔥😂 Must be hard typing with one hand while the other clutches your insecurities.

@11thvault @WiseOldMan42 Whatever point you’re trying to make, it misses the larger issue. this isn’t about colloquial “we” or semantic gymnastics. It’s about a once broad church being increasingly shaped by a few, loud voices with a megaphone. dominating airtime & actively shaping party strategy.
English

@auldushuxly @WiseOldMan42 I could talk about the type of macro inclusivity that is used colloquially by many people who speak of Australian issues using ‘we’. But, I think you’d prefer to reiterate your preferred perception of ‘political machinery’ hoping to distance the relevance of Peta’s commentary.

Today I completed my 250th Parkrun down at the Greenway. I feel so touched at how many people showed up to demonstrate their support and kindness. Parkrun is such an important staple in my week and a fantastic, volunteer-run organisation who make it easy and accessible for anyone to get out and about and join the community. Thank you to everyone who participated, especially all the incredible volunteers, as well as my friends and family who have supported me on this incredible journey.

I’ve waited three years to buy this. It was a reward if we managed to defy political gravity. This morning it is on its way: reaganfoundation.org/store/products…

@RositaDaz48 Democracy isn’t about people, it’s about landmass! If cows, rocks and wheat fields could vote, the LNP would win every seat. Sadly, the cities insist on having… voters. But seriously farmers rock as do inner suburban electrons you culture war hack
English

Have you looked at the map of electorates won, by party? This map spells it out very clearly. The majority of votes comes from city dwellers who would be public servants, welfare recipients and mainly lower income earners. The vast majority of the rural/country/remote area, where all Australia’s income comes from, ie mining, agriculture, horticulture, fisheries etc, are LNP votes. So, the workers who keep the country viable get the least say in how it is run.

@WiseOldMan42 Sky News, through relentless commentary, helped undermine Liberal leaders like Turnbull and Abbott—shaping internal coups and pushing the party further right. Media power didn’t just report the story, it steered it.
English

@WiseOldMan42 When you’re on a news channel, hosting interviews and calling the party “we,” you’re not just commenting, you’re gatekeeping who belongs. The broad church becomes a glass house. I could talk about the blur between political machinery and journalism, but I don’t think you’d care.
English

@BillSte12856482 @RoccoHowat1 Exactly . It’s not just bias, it’s the absence of internal reflection. When a media outlet acts as a cheer squad instead of offering scrutiny, it does a disservice to the very side it supports. Parties need honest feedback to evolve, not constant applause.
English

@RoccoHowat1 @auldushuxly Which it is. Every current affairs program on the ABC features a wide range of views whereas Sky calls itself "news" but barracks only for one side. It's like a sports commentator who, no matter how badly their side is beaten, never has a good word for their opponents.
English

@goodfoodgal The lights won’t stay on by clinging to the most expensive option. Nuclear in Australia: $155–$252/MWh.
Solar + wind + storage: $83–$120/MWh—and faster to build.
Renewables with firming are working worldwide. What’s going out isn’t the light—it’s outdated thinking.

@katinadoc Maybe it’s never truly been that way, maybe it’s just an ideal. But democracy depends on striving for that ideal. If we dismiss things like independent journalism and serious opposition as relics, we’re not moving forward, we’re surrendering to decay.
