@stevebetteridg6 @SydneyYIMBY The argument that one approval decision can’t solve a housing crisis across a nation of 27 million people is the dictionary definition of a flimsy argument

@aus_econ @SydneyYIMBY The defence land which is the subject of this discussion is so small as to be insignificant in terms of relieving any sort of pressure on housing. Haberfield is a nice area, and just because a bunch of people want to live there, shouldn’t mean they can.

We’re here tonight at Inner West Council looking at the Haberfield Defence Land DCP. First up is Emily from Sydney YIMBY in favour of turning the land into apartments. Here’s her speech:

@stevebetteridg6 @SydneyYIMBY Your argument consists of the following: “I don’t want more housing in haberfield”. Do you say that argument is anything other than flimsy and if so how?

@SydneyYIMBY These arguments are all so flimsy. Maybe Emily can live somewhere other than haberfield. I know this area, and it’s quite small. Who would want public housos there?

@trustyriffs @SydneyYIMBY Honestly I have no idea but she doesn’t need to - housing affordability is not a hannerfield issue and the home owners of haberfield do not have ownership of the suburb. She lives in Sydney it’s her city too

One of my handymen went to the hospital because he felt ill and was there for two days, doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with him. The doctors didn’t even give him pills for the pain. His bill he has to pay out of pocket is $20,000 Majority of his saving down the drain. He went to a good border town in Mexico well known for healthcare professionals and they found what was wrong with him and did some surgery and what he paid was a fraction of the cost of the US.

The mega residential planning reform covering 70% of Sydney will cause more problems than it solves if developers get their proposed simplistic "let 'er rip" regulation. Check the Urban Design Association submission thenewdaily.com.au/finance/2024/0…

I would like to thank my landlord for his generosity. For allowing me and my family to live in a property he owns. All we have to do is pay him rent every month. For accepting mediocre returns on his capital so that I can earn much higher returns on my capital by investing into my business and into real estate. For taking on the risk of all major components of the property including the HVAC system, roof, foundation, plumbing and electrical systems, etc. The value he is adding to my family is appreciated and does not go unnoticed.

@JeromeFahrer @hughriminton @FinancialReview Yes Jerome the interpretation of the data is that all allied health workers including jobs like pharmacists, sonographers, optometrists, podiatrists, paramedics and psychologists all work for the ndis… it’s a patently false assumption and a very silly/irresponsible article

@hughriminton @FinancialReview There is zero chance that this is true. The vast bulk of spending on health and related areas, and so the vast bulk of jobs created in those industries, has nothing to do with the NDIS. .

@sbxr The data is very incorrect - it assumes that all allied health workers (which include jobs like pharmacists, paramedics, sonographers, optometrists, psychologists) work in the NDIS, which is patently incorrect.

Hell's Bells ! 1 in 3. A welfare society... NDIS has gone from $15B pa when first proposed... Cap the dammed thing. Every other entity has to live to a budget - cap it and let the NDIS org work out where the benefit needs to land.

Today is “ drain your banks funds day” Go to the bank and make a cask withdrawal. It doesn’t matter how big or small, just make that withdrawal. Let’s let the banks and the Gov’t know we do not want digital currency. I’ve done my part, let’s all get behind this.

@BeijingDai Wild theory that nato will barge into this war when they haven’t for years and have said they won’t consistently from the beginning and do to so would likely start WW3 but ok

I believe the following two things about the Russo Ukrainian war: 1. This war will end on the Dnieper River. The main reason is that current front line is over 2,000 kilometers. From an economic perspective, neither Ukraine nor Russia can maintain such a long front for a long time, which requires millions of soldiers to be stationed forever. Only separated by the Dnieper River, the two side can maintain the front line with afforardable economic cost. 2. Russia will not attack Odessa. Europe and NATO will consider the western side of Dnieper River as "its territory", and attacking Odessa is likely to trigger a chain reaction in Moldova and NATO member Romania. NATO is highly likely to officially participate in the war.
