This is the same Tim Walz who left his National Guard battalion right before they deployed to Iraq so he could run for Congress. Who claimed he carried weapons of war in combat -- he never saw combat. Who spent years calling himself a Command Sergeant Major -- a rank he never completed the requirements to earn. His own battalion commander called it an affront to the military. Veterans who served with him called him a habitual liar and a military impersonator. Iran killed 42,000 protesters. Closed the world's most critical shipping lane. Was months away from a nuclear weapon. No threat present. Now everyone knows.

Just admit you don’t want to tip. Servers make a couple of dollars an hour. They live off those percentages. Otherwise their wages are poverty. A restaurant could charge you 100.00 per steak so they could afford to pay a living wage. Without tips there would be no restaurants. Suck it up

Percentages make no sense for tipping. I go to a restaurant and order a $20 steak. Guy at the table next to me orders a $100 steak. If I tip $5 I’m considered a great tipper, but he’s expected to tip at least $20. Why? The server literally did the same amount of work!

Why don’t you get off the internet and go live there for a year to see for yourself? Dragging out the ‘Americans exist in a bubble’ stereotype to someone who has experienced life in both countries is just embarrassing for you. The real irony is that Americans who come to Australia generally are shocked by how insular we are and how easily we comply with our government restricting our freedoms.

Yes! Perfect tweet. As an American that spent a year there, I could not get over how over taxed, over regulated and obedient the population is. They are oblivious to their condition , quietly compliant. They think they are free! It's strange , very strange. Not a peep out of them during the strictest covid lockdowns in the world. As a Texan, it feels like an alternate universe. Cameras everywhere and nobody shoots them out.

@hell_line0 I get the frustration, but that’s a pretty big stretch. Not every tradition is rooted in hate. Some are, yes. But others come from history, belief systems, or structures people see as sacred even if you disagree with them.

My friend told me : when I left the Catholic Church at 18, my dad took me to coffee to ask why. I boiled it down to one example: “They don’t want equal rights for women. For example, I could never become a priest in a Catholic Church.” My dad looked me in the eye and said that it was tradition to have men in power, and it would be sad to see that tradition go away. Tradition is just another word for white supremacy, patriarchy, and heteronormativity. And that makes it synonymous with hate.

Tradition isn't hate. The Catholic Church teaches male-only priesthood because Jesus chose male Apostles, and the priest stands 'in the person of Christ.' It's a doctrine, not 'white supremacy' or patriarchy. Women have vital roles in the Church, and equality doesn't require sameness.
