Like ADC, the NDC has no plan for Nigeria yet Out of sheer curiosity, I have twice in the last few days googled the website of the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC), the party that the political wanderer Peter Obi and his ally, Rabiu Kwankwaso, sought shelter in after abandoning the ADC midstream. I was interested in the party’s manifesto and whether it has enunciated a markedly different vision for the governance of Nigeria, one better than President Tinubu's and the APC’s Renewed Hope Agenda. I was disappointed. Even though the site invited visitors to click on its manifesto to read it, the result was negative. “No document found" was the response I got each time I tried to download the manifesto. The party whose national leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, said would wage an ideological battle in the 2027 poll has not uploaded any manifesto since it was court-registered in February. What it flaunts are six policy nuggets that it characterised as pillars. However, the nuggets don’t read like pillars. They sound more like the platitudes the party’s newest catch, Peter Obi, has bombarded the nation with in the last six years. Senator Dickson, I look forward to your vision and mission for Nigeria, as your party appears to be the camp for the politically displaced and desperate.

@omoluabi1sq @firstladyship You're fuulish in your perverted thoughts. GRV ended up in Labour because he was schemed out of the PDP guber ticket in 2022. I have never heard his name until the Obidient movement propelled him to limelight riding on Obi's wings. So, what's your invalid point?

You don’t stay in Lagos. You don’t vote in Lagos. This your appeal makes no iota of sense. GRV has been running in Lagos from KOWA party. He ran for senate and was rigged out. He ran under Labor and made some waves. He brought so much value and energy to Labour. He made Obidient in Lagos and Obidient did not make him. GRV has proved that to millions of Nigerians that he doesn’t need to follow the noise to make a bold statement. He has repeatedly said a divided opposition is a waste of time. One man turning you guys around like roasted plantain won’t take Tinubu out of power. If you do not stand for something, you risk being pushed around. Thanks GRV for exhibiting the uncommon Yoruba value of always standing for something. We are proud of you

An OPEN LETTER to GRV, Abdul-Azeez Olajide, popularly called “Jandor” rode with Atiku & the PDP. We all know how that played out. Jandor is still struggling today. He could end up as the Jimi Agbaje of Lagos. That said, I expected a more savvy political move from you. You aren’t a rookie politician anymore. While you dilly-dally, others take vantage positions. A New Wave is on the rise. You of all people should know that Nigeria is not an ideal place. That place is not politically mature for that kind of “honorable” chess move you just played; at least not yet! There is a thin line between idealism & realism, & it’s a delicate balance. You run the risk of misinterpretation. Interpretation gets lost when one becomes too idealistic. It’s like walking on eggshells; one must tread carefully. So I hope you aren’t misreading the situation? If Peter Obi could change parties as Bola Tinubu did, your case shouldn’t be different. You should be the one lapping up Obi, he alone can give wind to your sails. Being a politician is knowing when to stay & when to jump ship. The ADC has no capacity to engineer any type of massive tectonic shift that could dislodge the deeply entrenched GAC in Lagos state. GRV, you are not just anybody. You are one of us. So I expected Funso Doherty’s move from you, WE ALL DID! My reason is simple. Your campaign was a gastric extravaganza, & I was deeply attached. It was something quite unexpected, something fresh. It was “New Feeling,” it filtered in & reinvigorated our hopes. I won’t forget “Eko e dide” & “Omo Eko Pataki” in a hurry. Those were slogans that heralded your homecoming debut. We were debutantes, 2023 was when Nigerians witnessed our first dance. I’m so emotional right now! My tears are running wild. “GRV, O GRV!” Yours was a campaign so close to all our hearts. You aren’t just a candidate; you’re our brother. You & Obidients are family, & everyone knows that family is a touchy issue. So I hope it’s not too late for you to come home & ride the tide. By me penning this letter, it means that you are one of us. As far as Nigeria goes, there is no room for political correctness. That place is not at UK/US/CA/AU level yet. Nigeria is still in its Prehistoric Age. You are yet to greet the Age of Civilization. Your own Industrial Revolution is still years away. Therefore, we should learn. This is not me preaching any kind of “conformity,” HELL NO! As disruptors & changemakers, the Obidients are against that! Our ethos are strength & honor. But the present situation is peculiar, & one must think out of the box. Time is of the essence, the clock is ticking. “Life is in constant flux; accepting this leads to peace. You cannot control external events, only your reaction to them.” Marcus Aurelius told me these. Nigeria is so unforgiving right now. Only the strong & the savvy survive. Present-day Nigeria is Carthage, a Gladiator’s Arena. You have to be born mad to survive it. There is no room for political correctness in such a brutal climate. Should Doherty get the NDC’s gubernatorial ticket for Lagos State, Obidients will vote for him. That’s the much I know!

BREAKING.... 2027 POLLS: OBIDIENT MOVEMENT REBRANDS, SACKS PETER OBI, YUNUSA Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Nigerian political space came under more tension on Thursday with the immediate disbandment of the #Obidient Movement and expulsion of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi; one his disciples, Yunusa Tanko and all other persons appointed under the unauthorised leadership structure that emerged after the 2023 elections. Those behind the sacking premised the decision on political prostitution and its misuse for personal advantage and private gains. Consequently, the organisation has been rebranded to the #OBEDIENT Movement, to disengage it from Obi and his loyalists. Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja to unveil the organisation, the International Coordinator of the #OBEDIENT Movement, Dr Barry Avotu Johnson, clarified that it has not yet adopted any presidential candidate for 2027 and has ceased to have any dealings with Labour Party. According to him, the rebranding was necessary because after the 2023 elections, the original vision and founding ideals of the #Obidient Movement were no longer adequately represented by those who assumed control of its structure.

Peter Obi
Peter Obi@PeterObi·
Fellow Nigerians, good morning. I woke up this morning after my church service with a deeply reflective heart, and despite every constraint, I felt compelled to share these thoughts with you. Many people do not truly understand the silent pains some of us carry daily—the private struggles, emotional burdens, and quiet battles we face while trying to survive and serve sincerely in difficult circumstances. We now live in an environment that has become increasingly toxic, where the very system that should protect and create opportunities for decent living often works against the people—a society where intimidation, insecurity, endless scrutiny, and discouragement have become normal. More painful is when some of those you associate with, believing you would find understanding and solidarity among them, become part of the pressure you face. Some who publicly identify with you privately distance themselves or join in unfair criticism. We live in a society where humility is mistaken for weakness, respect is seen as a lack of courage, and compassion is treated as foolishness—a system where treating people equally is questioned simply because you refuse to worship status, tribe, class, or power. Personally, I have never looked down on anyone except to uplift them. I have never used privilege, position, or resources to oppress others, intimidate the weak, or make people feel small. To me, leadership has always been about service, sacrifice, and helping others rise. Let me state clearly: my decision to leave the ADC is not because our highly respected Chairman, Senator David Mark, treated me badly, nor because my leader and elder brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, or any other respected leaders did anything personally wrong to me. I will continue to respect them. However, the same Nigerian state and its agents that created unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party that forced me to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC, with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, instead of focusing on deeper national problems and playing politics built more on control and exclusion than on service and nation-building. Even within spaces where one labours sincerely, one is sometimes treated like an outsider in one’s own home. You and your team become easy targets for every failure, frustration, or misunderstanding, as though honest contribution has become a favour being tolerated rather than appreciated. And when you choose to leave so that those you are leaving can have peace, and you step out into the cold, you are still maligned and your character is questioned. Despite all your efforts to continue working for a better Nigeria and engaging people with sincerity and goodwill, those who do not wish you well continue to attack your character and question your intentions. There are moments I ask God in prayer: Why is doing the right thing often misconstrued as wrongdoing in our country? Why is integrity not valued? Why is the prudent management of resources, especially when invested in critical areas like education and healthcare, wrongly labelled as stinginess? Why are humility and obedience to the rule of law often taken to be weakness rather than discipline? Let me assure all that I am not desperate to be President, Vice President, or Senate President. I am desperate to see a society that can console a mother whose child has been kidnapped or killed while going to school or work. I am desperate to see a Nigeria where people will not live in IDP camps but in their homes. I am desperate for a country where Nigerian citizens do not go to bed hungry, not knowing where their next meal will come from. Yet, despite everything, I remain resolute. I firmly believe that Nigeria can still become a country with competent leadership based on justice, compassion, and equal opportunity for all. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO
