For #EuropeDay, @eucopresident Antonio Costa delivered a special message to BiH citizens: "Dear citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I am addressing you today as future members of the European Union. On Europe Day, we celebrate our common European project, when our founding members chose unity over division, and cooperation over conflict. They decided to build a future of peace, freedom and prosperity on the ashes of the Second World War. We believe your future is in the European Union. A lot of hard work is taking place to make it happen. The next step in your accession process is to open negotiations. You can make it, if you manage to build consensus in the country. Together, we will build a shared European future. Long live Europe!" 🇪🇺🇧🇦

Larger, stronger, and united Europe is in everyone’s interest. 🇦🇱 🇲🇩 🇲🇪 🇲🇰 🇷🇸 🇹🇷 🇺🇦 🇧🇦 🇽🇰 🇬🇪 Enlargement means more stability, more opportunities, and a stronger EU on the global stage.

A very warm welcome to BiH 🇧🇦 to European Commission President @vonderleyen. The visit comes at a crucial moment, with the Reform Agenda for the Growth Plan recently submitted to the @EU_Commission by the BiH Council of Ministers. Discussions with the BiH Presidency and CoM Chairwoman will focus on ways for BiH to move forward on the 🇪🇺 path, and fully use the opportunities on offer, especially the Growth Plan. President von der Leyen is also visiting @SrebrenicaMC to pay respects to the victims of the genocide and honour their memory.

🇪🇺 integration is about values, dialogue & partnership. Our Head of EU Integration & Political, Aurelie Valtat, spoke at the @ValEUsProject Workshop in #BanjaLuka on BiH’s EU path, public perceptions and how EU values & policies support sustainable and inclusive growth in 🇧🇦.

We strongly condemn the arson attack on Nebojša Vukanovic's car. Political violence has no place in a democracy. We are very concerned about the number of recent attacks on RS opposition politicians, incl. B. Borenović & Dz. Mahmutović. We urge the relevant authorities to act.

Today in Potočari, seven more victims of the genocide committed in #Srebrenica thirty years ago were laid to rest. It is with a heavy heart that we remember what happened. But by remembering, we stand together to reject hatred and denial. European Council President António Costa and European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos travelled to Bosnia and Herzegovina to pay respect to the victims and offer deepest condolences to the families of the victims. The genocide in Srebrenica in July 1995 was the worst atrocity crime to take place in Europe since the Holocaust. Upholding truth, justice and peace is our shared European responsibility. Each life lost represents a wound that can never fully heal. May their memory compel us to confront hatred wherever it appears, and to build a future in which such crimes have no place. @eucopresident @MartaKosEU #Srebrenica30

The EU supports the Statement of the High Representative and Chair of the PIC Steering Board and opposes any action that undermines BiH's security and stability, and consequently condemns the adoption of conclusions, decisions & legislation in the RSNA on 26 and 27 February. 🇪🇺🇧🇦

I met with EU🇪🇺 Member States Ambassadors today to discuss the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina🇧🇦. No-one benefits from threats to the constitutional order, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina deserve greater stability and prosperity. The best guarantee of this is continuing on the 🇪🇺 integration path towards a future in the EU. The opening of negotiations has never been closer. Political actors have an important responsibility to use the opportunity on offer to make progress on the EU path and take action to seek common ground for the benefit of the country's citizens. EU🇪🇺 stands with BiH🇧🇦! BiH has just activated the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (EUCPM). Response teams are arriving on site. BiH is a full member of EUCPM since Sep 2022. 🇧🇦teams participated in rescue efforts in Slovenia & Türkiye. Solidarity in action!🇪🇺🇧🇦 @eu_echo
