A few early thoughts on World Cup Fantasy: The scoring system has its pros and cons. Midfielders have too many ways to score points, so there'll probably be some very safe data picks that become impossible to ignore. Defenders only get one extra point for scoring compared to FPL, I like that in theory, though I'm waiting to see the crazy point swings. Attackers getting rewarded for shot volume makes fixture play much more obvious. I also like that midfielders are rewarded for tackles only, and not every other defensive action. They picked the most basic defensive stat and the easiest one for casual viewers to understand. Subjectively I still don't love it, but objectively it's a smart decision. A lot of players are still unavailable, so we should wait until June 2 before drawing big conclusions. But I already have two things to announce: Scouts vs Analysts: WC Edition is coming, and so are plenty of data picks from me. Be excited!
