I know that there's a lot of confusion in the US and Israel over 'post-war' arrangements; who runs Gaza, where Hamas leadership go, security in the Strip, etc. I want to make this perfectly clear. I worked with, met and personally knew many Palestinians, including the most senior diplomats and politicians. Every single one of them, except one person, believes and hopes that the 2-state solution is a stepping stone towards the 'final solution', where Israel is eradicated and a Palestinian state, from the river to the sea, is established. This is an account of every interaction I can recall. Make of that what you will. Shabbat Shalom!

A letter to my former friends: We shared life's milestones, raised glasses in celebration, and found solace in our unity. You attended parties in my home and sat at my dinner table, you broke bread with me, came to my film screenings and plays, were my plus one at fabulous events…you did all this with me, a Jewish Israeli-American. Yet, when the sirens of conflict sounded, when the genocidal terrorists attacked the Jewish people in Israel, your silence became a deafening roar of indifference. Some of you turned your backs on me, on us. Or revealed you never had our backs to begin with. And, others, became hypocrites. Speaking out and taking action against Jews, against democracy, against human rights, against justice for the freedoms you appreciate, but believe Jews do not deserve those freedoms and rights to life. We are facing the most significant attack against the Jewish people during my lifetime. It is traumatizing. A time when true friends are needed. Friendship is not a fair-weather journey. This letter is my farewell to the bonds broken by betrayal, yet it is also my plea for you to awaken to the cries of humanity. #israel #standwithisrael #stopantisemitism #antizionismisantisemitism #antisemitism #standwithus #istandwithisrael #endjewhatred #jewish #jews #amyisraelchai #jewishstyle #jewishunity #jew #proudjew #zionism #starofdavid #jewishculture #jewishactivism #jewishcommunity #jewishmom #jewishgirls #jewishboys #jewswag #supportisrael #jewishandproud #proisrael #prayforisrael #jewsofinstagram #jewishpride

@PeterBeinart @RashidaTlaib Please explain what "From the river to the Sea" means and if this phrase should be mainstreamed. Her censure was not about calling for a ceasefire. It was about excusing Oct 7 as resistance and coding for dissolving Israel.

.@RashidaTlaib is an embarrassment to other Democrats. She's an embarrassment because she exposes as a sham their claim to defend human rights. She's an embarrassment because she endures so much when they sell out so cheap. She reminds them that their lack of courage is a choice
Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib@RepRashida

I am the only Palestinian American serving in Congress, and my perspective is needed here now more than ever. I will not be silenced and I will not let anyone distort my words. I’m from Detroit, where I learned to speak truth to power, even if my voice shakes.

@jggross @livia_ar "Since she wrote her profile last fall, Ms. Li said she had gone on about 15 first dates with men who reached out after reading it." But how did these men find her profile? Other than the BK guy with the (paltry) database, I was really unclear on how ppl find these.

Israel has a right to defend itself against Hamas. But innocent Palestinians also have a right to life and security. I’m calling for a humanitarian pause by all parties so that critical aid can be delivered to the suffering people of Gaza and for the immediate release of all hostages.

@TonyKaron Hmm why is there constant bombardment? Because Gaza is ruled by a terror organization whose aim is to wipe Israel from the map and kills Israelis every chance it gets. If it were ruled by a peaceful entity, there wouldn’t be a blockade or these attacks.

Gaza is a giant refugee camp –70% of its population are families forced from their homes by the creation of Israel in 1948. It has been under a brutal siege for almost two decades, facing constant bombardment, thousands of casualties and permanent humanitarian crisis🧵2/7

Today’s Hamas operation from Gaza surprised Israel, but it should be no surprise that Palestinians refuse to accept the fate to which Israel seeks to consign them. The fighters of Gaza and West Bank see a choice between living on their knees or dying on their feet 🧵1/7

Not a word of concern about Palestinian lives. No solidarity with civilians living under occupation in Gaza and the West Bank, it would seem. Odd choice from president of a country under attack by a foreign occupying force.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський@ZelenskyyUa

Horrible news from Israel. My condolences go out to everyone who lost relatives or close ones in the terrorist attack. We have faith that order will be restored and terrorists will be defeated. Terror should have no place in the world, because it is always a crime, not just against a specific country or this terror’s victims, but against humanity in general and our entire world. Anyone who resorts to terror commits a crime against the world. Whoever finances terror is committing a crime against the world. The world must stand united and in solidarity so that terror does not attempt to break or subjugate life anywhere and at any moment. Israel's right to self-defense is unquestionable. All details surrounding this terrorist assault must be revealed so that the world knows and holds accountable everyone who supported and helped carry out the attack. All Ukrainian citizens who remain in the risk zone must carefully obey all orders issued by local security services and remain vigilant. Please be cautious. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our embassy in Israel are ready to assist in any situation. To support Ukrainians in Israel, we established an operational headquarters. If you require assistance, please contact any of our diplomatic or consular offices in any convenient and accessible manner. Every life is valuable! We condemn all forms of terrorism.

With immense relief, I would like to share some huge news with my incredible friends and supporters: Nearly one year ago --and to my utter shock-- CUNY placed me under investigation for having the temerity to file an antisemitism complaint that, in small part, connected to BDS activists being put in charge of hiring antisemitism DEI officers on my campus. CUNY hired an outside investigative firm who completed their findings nearly 8 months ago. CUNY repeatedly refused to turn over the investigation's findings to me. Today, however, I finally received the below letter, completely exonerating me of all charges in what was a despicably retaliatory investigation that should have never been commenced to begin with. No one, of any protected class, should EVER be persecuted and subjected to something like this for simply standing up for their rights and pursuing legitimate claims of discrimination. I did nothing wrong. All I did was stand up to antisemitism. For doing so, I was subject to a deeply stressful and retaliatory investigation and then was deprived of even being told of my exoneration for all these many months. CUNY has known that I was cleared of all charges since late February/early March 2023. I will continue to pursue retaliation charges against the university for subjecting me to this injustice and I stand in full support of my Zionist Jewish colleagues who have also been placed under investigation by CUNY for filing antisemitism complaints. So many of you have shared such strong words of support about this for the past year. I cannot thank you enough. It really helped keep me going. I am so grateful for your support, kindness, and words that gave me strength and resolve through what was an incredibly stressful period. We must all stand up to persecution of Jews who stand up to antisemitism, or it will never end. With love and appreciation to all of you who have followed this situation and supported me, Jeff Lax
