Okay, physics wonks, riddle me this: In the study we were looking at the other day- nature.com/articles/s4159… -they said the following: A 5-µm thick polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film (FP301050, Goodfellow Corporation, Pittsburgh, PA, USA) was placed across each bulb to spatially diffuse the output. Intrepid individual that I am, I vowed to replicate this feat of the Western barbarians in my humble laboratory. So, upon hearing the song of the polymer vendor as he strolled through the neighborhood with his carry pole heavily laden with synthetic wares, I sallied forth with my trusty parasol to purchase some light-defusing polymers with my morning tea and meat bun (ok, so I bought it on Taobao, but it's a good visual). I took a baseline spectrographic measurement of a Nukit Torch, then wrapped it in a single layer of the 5-µm thick PTFE film, and... It completely blocked all UV. 😕 We know the following: PTFE is one of the best UV reflectors there is. thorlabs.com/newgrouppage9.… PTFE is also defined as an "ultraviolet (UV) transparent polymer." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polytetra…. PTFE is noted for its use as a UV diffuser en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polytetra…. Thin PTFE films are UV-transparent onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…. Yet, my 5-µm thick PTFE film is not 222nm transparent like that used in the study😑 Options: A: Fake PTFE film? B. The wrong type of PTFE film? C: Something else?

So, husband is going to have a major and unavoidable nose surgery next week, and cannot wear mask during and after the surgery for a few days. Good news os that hospital still enforces mask wearing, good ventilation and HEPA filters on high everywhere. /1

@RealSexyCyborg @tritha7 @nailatrahman @FitTestMyPlanet @michael_hoerger Re your recommendation to only use NaDCC for safety, the MSF page on NaDCC (medicalguidelines.msf.org/en/viewport/Es…) has an example of a 1.6g tablet dissolving in a liter to yield 1000 ppm. That’s two orders of magnitude to dilute. Do you know of NaDCC tablets that make less concentration?

It's time to mandate clean air in all public indoor spaces. Mandating clean drinking water seemed like a crazy idea only 150 years ago. People weren't too concerned about their sewers and their drinking water mixing, can you imagine? That's us today with air.

If you have an Apple Card but not Apple Cash, the ability to apply your Daily Cash to your balance was _deliberately removed_ from the Wallet app, and you have to do it on the website or contact support. Super sketchy way for Apple to increase Apple Cash float revenue.

For those with an Apple Card but not Apple Cash, did the “apply Daily Cash to balance” button just disappear in the last two weeks in the Wallet app?

@mikeroySoft @VMware OK, clarifying, there are two problems. One is that the link on vmware.com/products/fusio… forwards to the v12 page. The other is that trying to register for v13 yields a blank page, JS console errors and 500s from the server.

@mikeroySoft @VMware 90% of the time when I click “register” on that page I get tons of errors in the JS console, and when the page does load correctly I’m still getting the v12 license. The link I first provided is on vmware.com/products/fusio… so that should be made to work.
