TWM update on upcoming Rains in North Tamil Nadu coast from Delta to KTCC (Chennai) on 11 and 12 and in south and interior Tamil Nadu on 13 and 14th December. 1. Will this be the last low pressure for Tamil Nadu ? ------------------ MJO will continue to be in Phase 5 (Indo China) till end of 3rd week of December. It may not be the best phase for us but it is neither a bad phase for us too, It is pushing one system after another into our Bay of Bengal from the Indo China basin. There is also one more system that is expected to follow after this low pressure on 16-18 December. But lets go one by one, December month forecasts models always show rains and then remove them too being closer to end of the NEM season. So too much in advance will be a pure guess. 2. KTCC (Chennai) ----------- Chennai and KTCC belt will see heavy rains on 11 and 12th December. But it will be manageable rains. The convergence is good over KTCC refer the image. So KTCC will get good rains. Either on 11 or 12th oru nalla rain bands we will get nu i fee. We will know once bands are visible on Radar with nowcasting. 3. Pondy and Delta Coasts ------------- Nagai, Karaikkal, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villpuram, Pondy coastal areas are in for heavy rains. on 11 and 12th December. 4. Chances of becoming cyclone ? - Very less. Best case it might become a Depression but weakens a lot. This is not going to sustain like Fengal cyclone. 5. What about South Tamil Nadu - The only districts in negative are Thoothukudi, Thenkasi and Virudhunagar. South TN incl Ramanathapuram, Nellai and Kumari and others mentioned will get rains on 13 and 14th December but the rains wont be heavy as compared to North Tamil Nadu coast. 6. What about west Tamil Nadu and interiors - One day they might get rains when the low crosses via Gulf of Mannar to Arabian sea, that time west Tamil nadu and interiors will get rains 7. Till Christmas Tamil Nadu will be seeing rains and this monsoon Tamil Nadu will cross 500 mm for the NEM season and Chennai city will once again cross 1000 mm for the NEM season. 8. Fishermen - The sea will be very rough from 10 to 13th for the 1s low pressure area. 9. Pa group - Exams will be going on study well, dont get glued to TV for holidays. On those heavy rain days, the decision will be taken by the collector based on the rains happened over night and further rains expected. So study for exams well. 10. Now we got the dates and the pattern and the areas - Once the rain comes closer, now casting updates will be done in this page with areas of impact, stats, rainfall observed, etc, Posted on 8th December, 10.30 pm.
