Why do hyenas drink so much water at once? This female hyena spent about 3 minutes drinking water without stopping. Hyenas have amazing strong stomach acid that allows them to digest things other animals can`t, such as hooves, horns, and even teeth. Because of this diet, they get very thirsty and need to drink massive amount of water to help process all that calcium. Hyenas are very clever and will sometimes drag a carcass into the water to hide the carcass and keep the scent away from lions and vultures. Photo credit: Jo Mburu.

Competition for mating rights is usually intense amongst male animals. Understandably, it's more intense amongst dogs. Female dogs only get on heat twice in a year. This makes it a rare opportunity, for the males, to be the one to pass their genes on.
