The West Asia war exposes India's reliance on oil imports, but also offers a window for clean energy acceleration. To capitalise, India needs to: 1. Enhance renewable target to 1,500 GW by 2030. All bids to be with storage. 2. Induction cooking in households: Use Ujjwala database for demand aggregation to shift from imported LPG to clean electric cooking. 3. Electrify all transport: Two/three-wheelers by 2030, Trucks/buses by 2034 and then cars. 4. 100 GW nuclear by 2047: Bid out five small modular reactors with private sector. 5. Process critical minerals domestically: Secure offtake contracts, price support. 6. Build clean energy manufacturing: Offer PLIs for solar modules, batteries, electrolysers; 7. Expand green financing: Issue bonds, incentivize banks, tap multilateral funds and carbon markets for transition costs.
