The attack on Iran yesterday by the U.S.-Israeli military cost 900 lives. However, Iran decided to respond harshly by deploying their latest Arash 2 and Hadid Kamikaze high impact drones, traveling at 450-500mph, with a war head of 1500-2000kg, evading most of Israel interceptors and hitting targets in Haifa, and as far as Georgia, the source of 30% of Israeli oil supplies. The Americans seem to have extended the duration of the war by requesting the pentagon to send additional 100 military intelligence officers to CENTCOM for at least 100 days or through to September this year. It looks like the war be becoming a zero sum game. Both side’s ultimate aim is not to negotiate any settlement but to destroy the other. Iran on the other hand, seems to have prepared for the long war. The U.S. is just making preparations. Now that Iran has practically become a nuclear weapon capable nation, I think the next few weeks will be interesting.

The truth is, the federal government is actually giving money to the poorest people, but shady business is happening at the LGA level. Let me tell you what happened last week. Two people who registered for this money last year received ₦50,000. The following day, after the money was paid, some people from the LGA, people they really know and who had orchestrated their registration, called them, sent them an account number from the local government, and told them to send ₦30,000 into that account. I heard about it and told the person not to refund those people, because it is federal government money, and it belongs to them, so they should enjoy it. Lo and behold, the person said, out of fear, that if they don’t refund the ₦30,000, next time those people will not call them again. That is the shady business that is actually going on.

If I became president and my interest was in uniting the nation, my first agenda would be abolishing state of origin. How? Remove it from all official documents, NYSC, employment forms, school admissions. Make it illegal to deny any Nigerian opportunity based on where they’re from. Teach national identity in schools from primary level. One generation of Nigerians raised to see themselves as Nigerians first and tribalism dies with the old guard but this is just my wishful thinking, there’s going to be a lot of fight from the the governors and traditional rulers who derive power from ethnic structures.
