@ayrisdesign Yeah, I would’ve done that if I knew ScreenStudio needed a subscription. I already recorded everything there and now I can’t export it. Guess I’ll have to re-record without it, even though it was way more convenient. Let's see. 😅

Does someone own screenstudio subscription? I recorded one whole video and later realised during exporting the video that I’ll have to purchase the whole thing for one single export. 😭 If any of y’all own sub please lemme know, I just wanna export 1 video. 😭

Have y’all ever worked under a senior designer whose taste/design sense is actually not good, but u gotta follow their lead anyways?

Designers suddenly feel the need to explain that «design is more than just outputs». That itself is a bad sign. Unfortunately, designers cooked it themselves. Designers had a problem I called Figmaism – an obsession with tools and visuals at the expense of other (and more important) skills. We knew hard skills are only a fraction of designers’ competencies. But we still kept talking mostly about new Figma features and pretty visuals to impress other designers (instead of customers). One reason is a defence mechanism - it's easier to hang out in Figma than to face KPIs, OKRs, and roadmaps (AKA the things that actually matter). Designers shouldn’t be surprised that design is being reduced to output because they helped create that reduction. So if designers failed to make the case when the profession had more leverage, I’m not sure why we expect others to buy it now.

@IwuezeAmarachi Focusing on the mortifying ordeal of being replaced is one way to go down as a designer.

To become an irreplaceable designer, focus more on your thinking and ideas rather than on your Figma skills.

@vibamohan_ It’s a super comprehensive book, you gotta read a topic and go deep into a rabbit hole of that topic to understand it. Going slowly through that book is the way to go.

Concept designs got me so much work in the past few years. I've been asked multiple times how to get more clients and it's nothing spectacular - create cool stuff everyday, post it (X, LinkedIn), get attention and redirect the traffic to your site with real work and social proof. Pretty much that's all I did and I've been fully booked for at least 2 years.

I see a lot of solo designers getting an agency domain and work under that name Is that a valid move or should i just stick to personal portfolio freelancing?
