Scott Brown said disruption to Ayr’s team selection was no excuse for their faltering display against Arbroath.
He revealed: “Leon King phoned in sick this morning, and we lost Nick McAllister and Dom Thomas in the warm up.
“But despite that, you expect more intensity from those who were on the park.”
Scott Brown: “It was extremely poor today. We lacked intensity and running power in that first half with the lads we were missing. But you need to be able to trust the full squad and give others opportunities to step up.
“Our home form has been very poor this season. We can’t hide away from that and we need to change that. I need to see us control a game - there are way too many comebacks from us this season.”

In 2025, the idea that paying customers can’t wake up on the day of a game and decide they want to attend a half empty stadium is, to say the least, laughable.
Sometimes Scottish football writes its own jokes.
