The crisis of extremist settler violence in the West Bank must be confronted, and the perpetrators must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. There should be zero tolerance for violent extremism, no matter what form it takes and no matter what direction from which it comes.

I would note again that Ukrainians abroad are not burning down Russian cultural centers or Russian schools worldwide. Even though they certainly have plenty of reasons to do so. But “anti-Zionists” (sic!) burning ambulances in London just because they have a Star of David on it – that’s always on the table. That’s why I don’t believe in any “anti-Zionism.” It’s simply antisemitism that has once again become acceptable. I myself, to put it mildly, am not thrilled with Israel’s policies in recent times. And many people aren’t thrilled with U.S. policies either. So what – are people burning anything American in Europe? Not really.

Let me be very clear: Steffen Seibert is a true friend of Israel and faithfully represents the strong relationship between Germany and Israel. Gideon Sa’ar, on the other hand, is busy positioning himself for Likud primaries and trying to stay politically relevant , Israel’s foreign relations seem to be the least of his concerns. Thank you, Mr. Ambassador, and I’m sorry you had to go through this experience with Israel’s “Foreign Minister.”

A day of outrage and sadness: a farmer killed by Hizbollah up North, hundreds injured by Iran‘s missiles in the South and Center. And in a parallel reality: the violent settler rampage in Palestinian villages following the tragic and to be investigated death of one of their own.

I was glad to participate on @ILTVNews and discuss the latest developments in the war with #Iran. I said that I fully understood why Europeans would not want to help President Trump. He disdains his European allies. Why would they do anything to help Trump out? He is in a mess of his own making. Look at Denmark: Trump has made demeaning remarks when the Danes came to help out the Americans in Iraq and lost more soldiers as a percentage of their population than any other country. And what did Denmark get in return? Insults from Trump. Even if the Europeans were to help out, Trump would show no gratitude. The U.S. president gets what he deserves. As for Iran’s missile threat to Europe, we should get this in proportion. The Obama administration back in 2009 unveiled #NATO's missile defence system to protect European countries from the potential of Iranian nuclear missiles. This has been a threat that has been in the air for some time. Germany and Finland have purchased Israeli anti-missile systems but not because of a threat from Iran. They are worried about the Russians. The Russian threat is far more dangerous than the Iranian threat. That is what really matters to Europeans. When the IDF Chief of Staff Zamir talks about the Iranian threat to Europe, yes there is a threat. But it shows a certain lack of understanding about what really worries Europeans. youtube.com/watch?v=fz5S4Z…

Excellent article from @Freedland: "Every minority faces discrimination – note Tory frontbencher Nick Timothy’s appalling attack on Muslim prayer this week – but next to no other diaspora community goes through this. People can’t stand Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, but Russian Orthodox churches don’t require round-the-clock protection. People loathe Donald Trump and his bombing of Iran, but US-branded stores on UK high streets are not smashed and daubed. As for British businesses with investment links to the US, including to US security firms, those remain untouched. Israel and Jews are the exception." theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

The IDF claims that it has intercepted 92 per cent of Iranian missiles during the war with #Iran. But that means 8 per cent of Iranian missiles can still hit their targets. The Israeli government knew full well when it launched this war that nearly a third of Israelis do not have proper protection against these attacks. There is no end in sight to this war, and the government is showing a callous disregard and lack of concern for the fate of its own people. This was obvious already after the events of October 7, 2023, but it is even clearer now. Here is a telling quote from the excellent @haaretz military correspondent Amos Harel: "In all the mass-casualty incidents in [southern Israel], one fact stood out – most of the wounded were hurt outside a bomb shelter or safe room. Nevertheless, it's important to remember the glaring gap between those preaching adherence to safety regulations and those they are reprimanding. The cabinet ministers, mayors, television anchors and so forth largely live in homes with safe rooms. Many of the Gur Hasidim wounded in Arad and the people wounded in Dimona have to drag themselves to crowded public shelters under difficult conditions, while caring for small children. And this is the fourth week in a row that they have had to do this. It's no surprise that tense, exhausted Israelis don't always obey the instructions to go to shelters. When the government and the IDF General Staff talk about a war with no end date and demand patience, it's unlikely that the decision makers are remembering how it feels to be in the shoes of ordinary Israelis, most of whom have to go back to work even though the schools still haven't offered any real solution for their children..." haaretz.com/us-news/2026-0…

Powerful statement from @MarkGardnerCST on @BBCr4today: "There is a sense of fear around being Jewish...a sense of isolation about the relative lack of reaction to the news of Iranian agents targeting Jews...The position of British Jews has become ever more pressurized. Ambulances being blown up in the middle of the night in London is also an attack on Britain and it is important it is regarded as such." theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/m…

Former U.S. Defence Secretary Leon Panetta 💯: “If you’re planning a war, it’s not a bad idea to talk to your allies. Alliances are important to be able to support any kind of military effort. We’ve learned that lesson going back a long way to world war two. But [Trump] takes a callous approach to alliances and now he suddenly finds himself in a place where he’s got to turn to allies, to Nato and to others, all of whom he certainly hasn’t treated well in his presidency, to try to help bail him out.... The chickens are coming home to roost." theguardian.com/us-news/2026/m…

It is unclear if yesterday’s incident in the northern West Bank that killed an Israeli motorist was a terror attack or a car accident. Either way, Smotrich again calls for the collapse of the Palestinian Authority and full annexation of the West Bank — Which would inevitable mean an overextended IDF that Israel clearly cannot afford, a predictable surge in violence with less capacity to protect civilians on all sides, weakening Israel’s ability to focus energies on the many other fronts, and resulting in more international condemnation, distancing by Arab partners, free falling support in the US, unrest in Jordan, etc, etc. Smotrich calls for actions the would ultimately serve to advance Iran’s and Hamas’s agenda. Steffen Seibert has been a very good 🇩🇪ambassador to Israel. If you think that the Israeli FM smearing @GerAmbTLV does anything for the Israeli-German relationship or the public image of the Netanyahu government in Germany then good luck with your strategy. You will be surprised.
Gideon Sa'ar | גדעון סער@gidonsaar

Ambassador Seibert finds it very difficult to condemn attacks against Israelis without bringing up the Palestinians. His obsession with Jews living in Judea and Samaria prevents him from even condemning the death of a Jew caused by a Palestinian. Good to know that a new ambassador will soon arrive - one who will strengthen Israel-Germany relations.

Let me say it: the settlers rampaging through the West Bank right now, and the people in the government who support them, are a bigger threat to Israel and its future than Iran ever was.

Arsenal started brightly but became increasingly defensive and negative. They won the League Cup in 1993 playing like this under George Graham but there is no excuse today when you look at the attacking talent Arteta possesses. City were the better team and deserved the win. I hope lessons are learned, because there is no reason for Arsenal not to finish this season on a high.
