The least you could do is get this man a flight to travel back Addu! @MaldivianAero @MvSpokesperson

@MNDF_Official This is unbelievable. You guys doing dives deeper than 50m on a single tank!!! No redundancy, no deco gas, no bail outs. So unsafe! Get proper Tec gear and training!

@najeebshahym @MNDF_Official Doing these dives without proper training and equipment is nothing but risky. They put themselves in the same situation as the missing diver and eventually there are more casualties. Who is going to search for them afterwards? The same guys with lack of training? See the spiral?

This FB status by former Head of Marine Police, intentionally or unintentionally, backs the claim that the body of Mahdhy was recovered from inside the cave. If his body was recovered deep inside the cave, the initial claims by Gov that the team realized he was missing only after surfacing + that he went inside the cave with a dive buddy simply cannot be true.

Finally, police have started investigating the death of SSGT Mahdhee. The best course of action would still be an independent commission, but this is far better than having no investigation at all. Thank you to all the citizens who pushed for this. The fact that this is happening now is because people refused to stay silent. dhauru.com/post/news/4373…

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has announced that the bodies of four Italian divers, believed to have been trapped in an underwater cave at Vaavu Atoll have been located. Today marks four days since the tourists became trapped in the underwater cave. The military stated that efforts to retrieve the bodies will be carried out during upcoming dives. The rescue operation resumed today after a two-day suspension. "In an operation conducted today by the Police Service in collaboration with foreign expert divers arranged by the Italian government, their bodies have been located. The bodies of the four tourists were found inside the cave where they had been diving," the MNDF stated. As the recovery operation resumed, it is being led by a team of expert cave divers from Finland who were dispatched to the Maldives through the facilitation of the Italian government. So far, only the body of Gianluca Benedetti, the dive team leader who accompanied the tourists, has been recovered. Reports indicate that his body was found during the initial dives on the day they went missing, near the entrance of the cave at a depth of 60 meters. A total of six people have lost their lives in this incident and the subsequent rescue operation. This includes five Italian divers and Staff Sergeant Mohamed Mahudhy, who passed away while participating in the rescue operation.
