A German friend told me today he was struck by how Ukraine seemed to be regaining control over the dynamics of the war. I would not call it a strategic turn yet. But the shift is real. Here are three reasons why👇

Una cosa. Soy programador.

Starpilot agent playing live under the microscope. I'm nostalgic for the good 'ole days of small models and Atari-style RL. This agent is 360k params. The neurons are interpretable. You can trace the circuits from RGB inputs to the motor neuron outputs.

One of the things that made the Mythos release hard to interpret is that Anthropic held back details on most vulns they found, to give defenders time to patch. 1 month later, info from orgs with access to Mythos is starting to trickle out, e.g. this post from Mozilla today:

Neural networks might speak English, but they think in shapes. Understanding their rich *neural geometry* is key to understanding how they work – and to debugging and controlling them with precision. Starting today, we’re releasing a series of posts on this research agenda. 🧵

Europeans totally shocked to find out they’re poor.
The Wall Street Journal@WSJ

From @WSJopinion: What happens when Europeans find out how poor they are? The Continent trails far behind U.S. economic output. Politics is bound to catch up sooner or later, writes Joseph Sternberg. on.wsj.com/4n5v2Wq

Hi Claudia. Richard Dawkins here again. Here is a debate I had with a religious whacko in the 90s. Give me an honest review of all the ways in which I destroyed his flimsy arguments with my flawless logic. Ideally in Scarlett Johansson’s voice.

In 1968, when computers were still seen as cold calculating machines, Jasia Reichardt curated an extraordinary exhibition in London called Cybernetic Serendipity. Artists, engineers, poets and scientists came together to explore the creative possibilities at the intersection of art and technology. The result was something remarkably ahead of its time. If you're curious about the early days of the relationship between computers and art, the catalogue is essential reading. The catalogue from Cybernetic Serendipity is filled with ideas, experiments and reflections that feel surprisingly relevant in our current AI era. You can read the full PDF for free here: monoskop.org/images/2/25/Re… Highly recommended! Take your time with it. thanks @monalisa for the tip!

@RALee85 I don’t think that UAS is the only added dimension, from planning and target selection to granular live data feeds, from cheap multispectral capabilities to almost live video from neo… if it only were drones…

I disagree. The Ukrainian offensive operations in Kupyansk and Zaporizhzhia from last fall and this winter demonstrated that offensive maneuver is possible even with brigades and regiments that only had a company-size element of infantry. In both cases, breakthroughs were possible if Ukraine had sufficient forces to exploit success. Proper planning, task organization, rehearsals, intelligence, and employment of fires/CUAS can set the conditions for successful offensive operations. UAS can enable, not only hinder, maneuver.

In the end, when the drone swarms have been depleted, you still will need boots on the ground to take and hold territory. My guess is that pretty soon anti-drone firearms will be deployed in every platoon. And I don't see what's so difficult to shoot a wad of carbon fiber strings to bring down a drone at 5-10 yards, when you know it has to get within feet of you to be lethal.
