Here is my breakdown… Pros/Why I loved the movie… 1. Cinematography was incredible. There is nothing else to say here. Shot completely on IMAX which often can be challenging, here it was just flawless. 2. Score was 7 out of 10. I really enjoyed it. Not the best I have ever heard but well above average. 3. Acting was superb. Obviously Damon, Hatheway, and Holland were all strong, however; Pattinson and Samantha Morton just really did incredible. John Leguizamo probably had one of his best performances since Romeo and Juliet in my opinion. 4. Faithfulness to the story was very good. Was it perfect? No, but I do not think you could deliver the Odyssey perfectly, it’s just too much. Nolan in my opinion understood the Odyssey better than many others that retold the story in the past. I also think you cannot please everyone, especially when you are retelling the story. Different things are significant to different people for a variety of reasons, but what Nolan delivered was very largely faithful to the literature. 5. Casting (I know I am gonna get hate) was largely good. Strong acting as I previously stated. Just a reminder that the Odyssey is fiction, it’s myth and legend, I am not going in to it thinking “is this actor historically representative of the people at the time?”. I want the characters to come to life and the messages/themes found in the story to come through, and they do. Cons 1. Script… There were some goofy lines here and there. Not enough to bring down the ship but some silly stuff. I do actually like that English accents were abandoned, a lot of people get stuck on that but for me it was a nice change of pace. 2. Misc issue, make sure that most if not all of your cast has read the source material. For a film like this I think it is incredibly helpful. Those are my thoughts. I respect the views of others who are entitled to their perspective.

@seoulman24 Maybe. But labels describe tools, not outcomes. Calling someone an AI artist still doesn't tell me whether what they create has artistic value.

If everyone with ChatGPT and Midjourney is an artist now… does the word “artist” still mean anything? Be brutally honest.
