Is it really okay to say the “story was not accurate”? It was FALSE. Don’t you think a clear unequivocal “APOLOGY” would have been the honourable way out ? @CNBCTV18News ?? @TimsyJaipuria @18RahulJoshi ?

From Couture to Cabinet Agnimitra Paul @paulagnimitra1 wanted to become a doctor but became a fashion designer and is now a BJP minister in West Bengal. She did her MBA from Jadavpur University. Her career began in the fashion industry, where she designed for Bollywood films and personal wardrobes for several celebrities. She started her own fashion label "Inga". She has designed costumes and personal wardrobes for Mithun Chakraborthy, Sridevi, Esha Deol, Shonal Rawat, Kay Kay Menon, Sonali Kulkarni, Vinay Pathak and Parvin Dabas. Agnimitra Paul has designed costumes for many Tamil films like Hungama and Bidhatar Lekha which were directed by Swapan Saha and Raja Mukherjee respectively. Her big break in Bollywood came through Sridevi in the 2002 film Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe. Her father, Dr Ashok Roy, was a well-known child specialist in Asansol. She entered politics by joining the BJP in 2019. She is married to Partho Paul, a businessman. In the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election she defeated TMC's Saayoni Ghosh(the one who had put a condom on Shivling) from Asansol Dakshin Vidhan Sabha. In 2026 Assembly election, she retained the Asansol Dakshin Assembly constituency seat. She has been entrusted with the Women and Child Welfare portfolio in the newly formed Bengal government led by CM Suvendu Adhikari. Around 23 political cases have reportedly been registered against her since she entered politics. Most of these cases are linked to protests, demonstrations and political agitations. However, no offence has been proven against her so far. Agnimitra Paul was attacked for the third time in a minority dominated area. "Every time when I go to Rahmat Nagar -- last time, 2021, when I was contesting for the first time, then also there was stone pelting. And then 2022, when I was contesting for the by-election, then my car was attacked in a Vidhan Sabha called Barabani.” And in Apr 2026 her vehicle was attacked in Asansol. Stone pelting was common under Mamata Banerjee’s TMC. As per NDTV, while visiting minority dominated area, Agnimitra had donned a helmet and kept it on till evening on the advice of her security men.
