What's changed:
1. Consoles have less of a long low priced tail today
2. The AI crisis is real, these are historically high console MSRP for year 6 of the gen.

the key here though is inflation.
i remember 99 was once some fabled mass market console "sweet spot". then that became 199, now ppl dont talk about it.
after inflation, consoles consistently launched around $600 in 2026 dollars.

Reminder that this photo was taken in 2006 (five years after the console launched) when retailers were having a fire sale with their GameCube stock because the Wii was completely backwards compatible with it (people forget that the Wii even had GameCube controller ports) and no one would buy a GameCube when they could get a Wii that would play all the new games and their entire GameCube library.

For the first time in my life, I wrote a detailed letter to my Congressman in hopes that I can get a meeting with his team about this severe problem.
While I assume nothing will come of it, we've gotta start pressing the issue for all of us. I'll continue doing everything I can!

@dig_deeper1 67-69 typically at night and i own so i do whatever i want.
I sleep in a closed off back bed so it gets 4-5 degrees hotter than the main house overnight with the door closed, so that translates to like 72-ish air temperature at my bed.
day i like warm so, typically 75-76
