begin badly. begin afraid. begin with the wrong tools and the wrong words and the wrong hour of the morning. begin anyway. because the carpenter’s hands were not ready when he built his first table - they were simply willing. and willingness, in the economy of a life, is worth more than talent and more than timing and more than any condition the mind invents to delay the moment when the body must finally do what it has always known it was built to do.
I will say it again, in case the first one was absorbed by the part of you that is already composing a reason to wait:

a lot of visual identities fall apart the moment you remove the logo.
so here’s friendly advice I wish someone drilled into me earlier:
run every visual identity through the Three-Post Test.
What is it?
Design three social media posts in the new visual identity.
(btw, you can now easily design and export social media assets directly in @framer)
Or, design three posters.
(a tip that @jstrelioff’s also recently shared!)
Then, the important step:
remove the logo.
Now, look at them like a stranger would.
If you’re trying to get out of junior design mode — ask yourself:
1. without the logo, do these three posts still obviously belong together?
Follow up with:
2. can I easily point to repeating rules (layout, type behavior, spacing, color logic, ...)?
3. could another designer easily continue this system without me in the room?
If you answer
1. no
2. nope
3. uhmmm, not sure
then you’re in trouble.
If the logo disappears and the connection goes with it, that’s your signal: you don’t have a visual system yet, just three nice visual pieces. maybe a very nice logo, too.
So, run this test early, save yourself time later.

Are you kidding me? This is the best website design experience I've had in a long, long time. @Shopify just won my heart with this new Winter Edition web design! Seriously, the bar for good design is so high right now. With all the AI slop out there, the only word-of-mouth you can rely on is having great design taste and building a cult around it. Just take @PrimeIntellect - ultimate design taste. Why wouldn't I send this to my friends or post it online organically? The moat is good design, folks - it's so important with all the AI slop we're seeing today. @tobi please give your design team a big big raise!

New work! I collaborated with CMYK and Angela Kirkwood on the redesign of cult classic game Magical Athlete. I did brand identity, art direction, and graphic design for all components. Now ask me how much math I had to do to make an evenly spaced game board with 31 spaces 🤡

My agency (forge.coop) did the design for Zohran’s campaign. While I wish I played a part, it was all the masterful work of my partners, Aneesh and Phil. Having worked with these 2 for close to a decade, it’s no surprise they created what many consider (the most?) iconic political branding. I’ve seen Aneesh go deep into the archives of typography and color theory, and Phil spend hours custom-building animations to bring a UI to life. HYPED to see their work getting the credit it deserves.
