First round at Carne…
1. Truly wild, in every sense of the word. Wild weather, wild layout, wild dunes, wildlife, wild green sites.
2. Never seen dunes and a course with the scale of Carne. Every tee atop a dunes every green buried into another.
3. Another wild element is that the two courses share the same opening 7 holes and the final two holes. Was pretty confusing (not just for us).
4. An Augusta member told me to look out for the 14th hole and he was right. Incredible par three with a green sculpted into a dune crater (below)
5. Would highly advise a caddie. Each tee shot required an extensive deep dive into the yardage book.
6. Has to be one of the most challenging courses/walks anywhere in the world with some of the most punishing short side misses. But fun nonetheless. Met a young lad from Dublin who summited our tee and said “that was a hard hole, wasn’t it?! I just walked off with a 10!”
If you haven’t watched I SWEAR yet, it’s available on Netflix UK today.
The film follows John Davidson and his life with Tourette’s. It’s powerful, emotional, and the most honest and real depiction of Tourette’s there has ever been on screen.
Robert Aramayo gives an absolutely stellar performance as John. The certainly agreed.
It’s also an absolutely fantastic film in its own right. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll come away with a far better understanding of what living with Tourette’s can actually look like.
This story means a lot to our family and many others in the Tourette’s community.
Give it a watch. You won’t be disappointed.
@Heavy_Boab Both Paul and John have helped me (tic sufferer but mine are functional not tourettes) find peace with my condition. Its OK to be different and to feel like the world is watching with bemusement at what we do. We just want acceptance and nothing more. Peace and love to all
This documentary features Paul Stevenson, one of John Davidson’s closest friends, speaking about living with Tourette’s and the very real challenges people face when it comes to employment.
I’m proud to call Paul a friend. He’s spent years raising awareness, educating the public and standing up for people living with Tourette’s. The work he does to improve understanding and break down barriers genuinely makes a difference.
Tourette’s doesn’t define someone’s ability, but ignorance and misunderstanding can still shut doors. Stories like Paul’s matter because they show the reality behind the condition and why education and awareness are so important.
It’s a worthwhile watch.
